Valid point. Why not buying out right away?

gives me the option to drive it for a year then seeing if I want to keep it. In the end the numbers come out the same, I guess I'll lose out on the lease assumption fee.

Effective payment after the incentive is $665/month

(1050 x 1.07 x 12 -5500)/12=665

I think this is a pretty solid deal.

Not bad all things considered. Check the condition of the tires. If they are low and need to be replaced, price that into your formula.

If he is letting you keep all the M Performance CF goodies, this is an even better deal. Strip those off and sell before you do the lease return.

One caveat: Check the condition of the car. Any and all repair responsibility will be passed on to you. I'm talking about scratches, dings, wheel rash, etc. All the stuff they look at when you do a lease return.

All-in-all though ~$660 on a M3 is not bad at all. Makes me wonder why he is getting rid of it.

Didn't see any mileage info. Hopefully OP doesn't get wrecked on mileage overage.
