Stoptech - sticky brakes
I’m running a stoptech st60/st40 bbk, slotted rotors with their sport pads and the pads are sticking to the rotors. Could just be the rears but I’m not 100% positive. It’s not just the first start in the morning, it also seems to do it when I’m stopped at a light for awhile. I’m going to pull the wheels and see what’s up. Is there anything special I should be looking for?

Are you running the Stoptech Sport pads or something else? Several years ago I ran Cool Carbons on then street and after a spirited drive, they would stick to the rotors and leave a halo (pad deposits) that you could feel through the pedal. I ditched the Cool Carbons after a couple months. I have not had the Stoptech Sport pads stick to the rotors although I sometime see a faint halo, but nothing I can feel through the pedal. Also, try letting off the brake once the car has reach a stop (if it is safe to do so).
Edit: Brain fart: it dawned on me that you mentioned the pads you are running. |

Pretty new bbk. Was fine at first, then tracked it with some track pads (no issues). The issue has come up since I put the street pads back in. I only did a light bedding with them but might have not cooled the brakes down enough after.
Also, the new pads, stoptech and cobalt were so tight I ended up filing down the backing plates just to be able to get them in and out. Last edited by Dreamer99; 05-05-2018 at 04:14 PM.. |
