Delivery Timeline
Morning all,
Well our emigration to Australia is going full steam ahead and we are flying out from the UK on 26th April. Can't wait! During our travels through Australia in January/February we spent some time in Melbourne and stopped in and saw Mo at Southbank BMW. One thing led to another and we ended up putting a deposit down on an M3CP in San Marino Blue that was due for production in March. Fast forward to today and I'm impatiently tracking the boat via the MarineTraffic website, seeing that it's currently in the south Indian Ocean, just passing Madagascar on it's direct sailing to Melbourne. It's due to arrive in Melbourne on 23/24 April. Mo has kindly told me that they generally see the cars around 10 days after the compliance centre. Can any of you guys shed any light on the timeline once the boat arrives? How long does it normally take to get from boat to compliance centre? Next to decide whether to go for the M-Performance front splitters/lip or try and get a CS splitter. Not convinced on the rear CS spoiler for the M3, so will likely go with the M-Performance spoiler along with diffuser and a few interior pieces. Really can't wait to get back into an ///M car!! |

Congratulations Mo is a great guy!
And SMB is a great colour choice. Tracking the boat is like waiting for Christmas when you're 8 years old - painfully slow but excruciatingly exciting. About 7-14 days once landed to taking delivery. Pics when it arrives!

Only slight issue currently is waiting on immigration issuing our 457 visa as we can't finalise the paperwork for the car until that's sorted. So even worse than the painful wait for the boat is the potential that it might arrive before the visa is issued and I still can't collect it!! |

Or a nice BMW carry-on bag. I remember web-camming my X5 through the Panama Canal The boat your M is on will come down the East coast for a few stops. The then unions and demand for cars to Melbourne BMW will determine how many cars make it onto the contract carrier to get your car out. It will get a compliance plate only when it's ready to go out the door. WW only move cars when they're asked to. Big deep breath, it'll come.

I did find a picture of the boat in Bremerhaven on 20th March, which would have been just before it sailed over to Zeebrugge where mine was loaded. |

Brave or stupid, could be either really!
The car was one that had already been ordered for stock, so the agreement is that if the worst happens they will refund our deposit and the car will go back to their stock. I'm not too concerned though, it's a sponsored visa which the employer and recruitment agent are arranging, all the other various hoops have been jumped through already, just waiting on the visa being issued. |

Quick update on this thread...
Car arrived in Melbourne a couple of weeks ago and our 457 visas were issued this morning, so it's now full steam ahead. I've decided to get the carbon front corners/matt black splitter/carbon rear diffuser and various interior carbon bits fitted on the car before we take delivery. Fingers crossed should be collecting her next week! |

Collection all planned for Monday morning, can't wait!
Am flying down from Toowoomba on Sunday afternoon, then spending 3 days driving back up to QLD. Unfortunately as it's on an unregistered permit I have to take the most direct route and can only drive between the hours on sunrise and sunset, otherwise would have detoured via the coast etc! Pretty sure the road north cross country is going to be boringly straight! Mo kindly sent me a couple of teaser pictures, I'll post more when I collect!! |
