Order placed for 2018 Individual San Marino Blue M3 ZCP, 3rd Euro Delivery / VIR

My wife and I have her Individual San Marino Blue M3 on order for a confirmed Euro Delivery in July. The car is currently in status 111 with an estimated production week of week 23. The pricing has been pretty straightforward and has pretty matched the prices posted here in other threads, including the Individual paint and Individual contrasting stitching.

We just got the latest VIR from our dealer, which I've attached below. This currently only shows MSRP pricing, but our dealer has agreed to $1500 over European Invoice price with financing through BMW FS.

Base Euro MSRP is shown as $63,175.

All of the packages and options are what we expect, but this VIR is showing Power Rear Sunshade at $575, The pricing guide dated July 1, 2017 shows this should be $350 when ordered in conjunction with Full Merino Leather, which is also on the order. I've pointed out this discrepancy to the dealer. Is this the most recent pricing guide?

The full Sub. Notes which the dealer included in his e-mail as a .png file show the Individual San Marino Blue as $4735 W / $5200 R and Black Full Merino Leather with Polar Stitching at $3715 W / $4050 R. Black Full Merino Leather when ordered with ZEC Executive Package is $2650, so that puts the Individual Polar Blue contrasting stitching at $1400, which is in line with pricing posted here.

One line item that we both though was odd was near the bottom, 940 Special Order Equipment, with the price blocked. Our dealer doesn't know what this is and if there's any additional pricing. I'm hoping that this is the items and prices that are shown in the Sub. Notes. If you ordered Individual, did you see this line item on your VIR? What is this and was there an additional cost?

In his e-mail the dealer currently estimates the invoice price at $80,935, which seems like it would put our price at $80,935 + $1500 = $82,435. After putting all of the numbers into a calculator and using the percentages shown in other threads, I come up with a Euro invoice price of $80,250 with the price of the Power Rear Shade at $350, so our price should be $80,250 + $1500 = $81,750 which leaves a difference of $460.

I've heard back from the dealer and he agrees that the Power Rear Sunshade should be only $350. We're going in next week with our passports and I'll take my spreadsheet and see if we can figure out the difference between his estimated price and mine.

I'd appreciate any feedback and comments.

Haven't seen 940 on my VIR for Hera Mica on Cohiba Individual, but I didn't do any special contrast stitching.

After a quick search it seems to just be on there for special things you might have requested, I wouldn't worry about.

When you order an individual color the 940 and price blocked is how they reflect the special paint order and stitching in your VIR. It is basically a placeholder. Won't show up as a priced line item until your car goes into production. The prices with the slash mean invoice/retail price. If you dig up our old individual order thread there is a good discussion for a few pages about the 940 and what it means. Let me know if you have any more questions.

That's what we were figuring. I surmised that the W/R meant Wholesale/Retail. I'm slightly surprised that the invoice price was about $100 less for the paint and about $50 less for the stitching than what I calculated. Total savings is about 9% under US MSRP, which is about what our two previous Euro Deliveries were.

Even though it's still more than three months away, it finally feels like it's getting real and I'm getting excited!

Congrats on your order! Our pickup date is July 18. It was originally planned for May 14, but BMW batches the individual interiors and couldn't produce it in time for a May delivery. We were going to go to the Gran Prix of Monaco, but now we'll have to settle for the German Grand Prix on July 20-22.

We have a friend that got Amaro Brown on his 2016 M3 with Mineral White. Nice looking leather! I had suggested Cohiba Brown to my wife but she liked the look of the contrasting Polar Blue stitching on the M2 and wanted the same thing on her M3, albeit with better leather! Contrasting stitching is only available with Black Full Merino Leather.

Excellent! Nice combo and stitching. I'm so jealous, I'm a massive F1 fan and have been to many races but couldn't get the dates to work. Nothing like an European atmosphere in F1 races (I would include Canada GP in there).

I will drive for a week along alpinestrasse, visit Baiersbronn (apparently Michelin restaurant heaven), visit Mercedes and Porsche in Stuttgart and finish off at the Ring.

Your trip sounds similar to our 2011 trip, except that we didn't make it to Nurburgring because we got a flat tire in Trier on a Saturday afternoon which stranded us there until Monday morning. We also toured the Porsche Museum and factory, and the Mercedes Museum and factory. We ended up doing the 'Ring (and Circuit Park Zandvoort and Spa) during our 2016 trip. We've been to the Gran Prix of Montreal twice and went to the US Grand Prix last year. I'm really looking forward to our first true European F1 race!

This time we're starting with 5 days in Munich, then Heidelburg for the German Grand Prix, then a couple of places in Germany that we missed on our 2011 trip. After that we'll spend 3 days in Lake Como, then spend a couple of days driving and staying in Switzerland and France, before arriving in Paris for 5 nights. Drop-off will be at CDG.

This isn't exactly accurate. You can get contrast stitching with other leather colors if you want. The "standard" contrast options that are pre-priced/approved are all done with black leather.

Yes, you are correct. Individual contrasting stitching comes in three flavors: there are a few "standard" Individual contrasting stitching colors @ ~$950, eight more "special" Individual colors @ ~$1400, including Polar Blue, and all of these can only be ordered with Black Full Merino Leather. Then there's the "sky's the limit" Individual option where you can order any color leather and any color contrasting stitching, subject to approval, and priced accordingly.

I was referring to the option that we chose.

My wife and I went to the dealer last night to have copies made of our passports and driver's licenses and to sign the initial Euro Delivery documents that get sent to BMW NA. The dealer gave us a copy of our Vehicle Inquiry Report (VIR) showing the Euro MSRP and Euro Wholesale prices. Everything came out pretty much as we had calculated using the calculation percentages posted here in another thread, which were the same calculations that we've used in our two previous Euro Deliveries in 2011 and 2016, except for one major difference.

Here's all the differences, with everything else being spot on:
Base Euro Invoice Price = +$2
Executive Package = -$2
M-DCT = +$2
Power Rear Sunshade = +$208
Per the Pricing Guide dated 7/1/18, the Power Rear Sunshade, in combination with Full Merino Leather should be $350, a savings of $225 less than the stand-alone price of $575. However, the VIR shows the full $575 MSRP/$530 invoice, which is a net difference of $208. We think that because the price of the Individual stitching is combined with Full Merino Leather ($2650 MSRP full leather when ordered with ZEC + $1400 stitching = $4050 MSRP) and the code now becomes Z1XXX, instead of X3SW (Black Full Merino Leather), the ordering system somehow disassociates the sunshade from the full leather and you get charged the full price for the sunshade. Our dealer has questioned BMW NA on this but they basically said that it is what it is.

However, the VIR shows $4735 Euro invoice price for the Individual San Marino Blue paint and $3715 Euro Invoice for the Individual Polar Blue Stitching for a difference of -$101 and -$52 respectively compared to the calculated price.

Bottom line, the total actual Euro Invoice pricing comes out to just $58 over the calculated price. We're happy with that.

This is the first time we've been into the dealer for this transaction since our original contact in November and everything has been handled by e-mail so far, even though the dealer is only about a 20 minute drive north of us. We know this dealer well although we didn't buy our last two BMWs there. In an reply from the dealer to our initial inquiry in November we were asked if we would be interested in having the dealer give us a GoPro to document our trip. The footage would be used for promotional material and we would get to keep the GoPro. I had forgotten about this but the dealer brought it up again in person. I told him that I had a GoPro HERO4 and was very familiar with its operation but hadn't upgraded to a HERO5 and that there was now a new HERO6. It sounds like he's fine with giving us a HERO6 as we get closer to signing the financial documents. Bonus!

We booked our airline tickets a few weeks ago, which is a long story. The short story is that, because of an error by the booking agency when trying to book us in Premium Economy on Lufthansa, we're now flying Delta and we've been upgraded to first class on our domestic legs and business class on our international flights, at no extra cost to us! Bonus! We're as excited about this part of our trip as we are about the whole rest of the trip, as we've never flown business class to Europe before!

Also, since our flights have been finalized, we bought our tickets to the F1 German Grand Prix last weekend and we're doing the full 3-day package, including practice on Friday, qualifying on Saturday, and the race on Sunday, the weekend after we take delivery. This will be our first European F1 race. We've been to the Gran Prix of Montreal twice before and went to the US Grand Prix at COTA last year.

You will love international business class. The bad part is you will only fly this way in the future! Ask me how I know.

Nice!! It’s getting real, isn’t it?

Mine is still some time away since the pickup date is August 24 (Monza race). The weekend of the spa race we will be at the Ring. If the weather sucks, we’ll go to the Spa race instead, if it’s good, nothing beats a few hours on the Ring.

On the 2016 Euro Delivery of my M4 (#CentennialMTour), we drove Nurburgring Nordschleife, Circuit Park Zandvoort, and Spa Francorchamps. Nurburgring was legendary and Spa was unbelievable! This is going to be a more relaxing trip, our 25th anniversary trip, with three days in Lake Como, ending with five days in Paris. No tracks this time!

I'd love to go to an F1 race at Monza! We'll have to plan that for a future Euro Delivery! The German Grand Prix will be our first European F1 race. We've been to Montreal twice and last year we went to COTA. I'm getting more excited by the day!

Monza is epic. I was living in London and went to the race...it poured all weekend long. But a certain German won his first race ever...now he is a four time world champ.

Silverstone is also epic and the atmosphere is quite unique, very knowledgeable fans, real petrol heads.

But it you want to see an actual race (you know, when cars actually overtake each other without gimmicks aids)...MotoGP winds hands down. While still a hard F1 fan I wish new Shareholders learn from other categories.

Is there an F1 thread? Haven't seen one recently.

Things are moving along now!

Yesterday the status was "Exterior Body Assembly Begins". This morning it is "In The Paint Booth". The exterior color is still shown as "Special Order Color". I'm anxious for the exterior color to change to that lovely San Marino Blue!

Odd that the "Image Not Available" is of an E92, not even an F32...
