M4 Purchase

Hey Fellas!

Need some help, I'm looking to purchase a pre owned 2015 or 2016 M4. I've done my research on what packages I should be looking for but I need some help figuring that out.

When I use the online BMW decoder it gives me everything but I cant tell does it have "competition package or executive package" ? how can I, what should I be looking for.

At min I want one with those two packages or the Comp. Thanks!

Competition package wasn't available on 2015's. It was introduced in 2016. The easiest ways to tell are if the add references 'ZCP option' aka 'competition package' or if the car comes with the bladed seats and/or style 666M wheels.

Also look for black badges. That’s easy to spot from pictures too.

Probably 75% of the owners on this forum replaced chrome badge with gloss black one.

No clue as to whether this is true or not, but even if it were, the cars in this forum are not a representative sample of the general M3/M4 population. Unless, I guess, if the main spot where you are looking at for purchase are the classifieds in the forum.

@OP, in my opinion the blacked out logos coupled with the 666M wheels should be a very good indicator that the car is in fact ZCP. Ultimately, you will have run the VIN in the decoder or see the sticker once you are getting closer to purchase.

As for what packages to get for your personal satisfaction, it's a matter of opinion. But some members have mentioned having a hard time reselling their cars without the executive + comp package.

I pulled that statistic out of thin air. Point being is black badge and black kidney grills are necessary but not sufficient clue.
