From Porsche to M3
What's up BMW world! New member, first post.
Current Porsche 997.2 owner, looking to move to a 4 door to accommodate the new baby boy due late march! :-) Questions about an F80 M3 purchase... I am looking for either CPO or new F80 M3. Must have options include comp. package, exec. package, black or grey exterior with full black leather interior, and manual transmission. That specific combo is tough to find... minimum build is roughly $78K, maximum i'd consider is upwards of $82K if all the smaller options are included. i am located in CT. 1) is there any way to search nationwide new BMW inventory? As i am sure you all know, the BMW USA site only allows a 100 mile radius. I have tried entering in zip codes of the larger cities to see what's available, not much luck. Does BMW USA limit the new inventory search on purpose for the benefit of the local dealers? 2) Does anybody know what an aggressive discount is (before incentives) on a new build that is on the lot somewhere? 5%? 6%? 3) What's the best way search and locate regions that have better incentives and make the purchase remotely? Short of cross country, which may negate rebates with shipping costs, i'd definitely take a flight within 1000 miles and drive the car home. I see within the pricing thread, folks talk about $80K builds being sold for ~$70K with discounts and incentives. Exactly what im trying to accomplish... especially since closely equipped CPO cars are like $65K. $5K more for brand new, no brainer. Thoughts on any of this? Thanks all! |

cars.com and speak to BMW dealer, they are able to locate the car for you or even order it. Incentives depends on salesperson but looking for 4-6% off.
Good luck and welcome to M World

My M3 will be delivered tomorrow, still have 997.1 GT3RS 997.2 GT3RS 997.2 CS cab. Might end up selling the cabriolet. Cannot wait to get back into the M world...
Goodluck with your search, I purchased from Duane at Portland BMW and shipped enclosed with unitedroad/plycar. Quote:

Given your specific wants, especially the MT , I'd just order new. If you do, negotiate up from invoice, not down from MSRP. I don't know the market now, but when I was buying, a good M4 price was $1000 above invoice and M3 price $1500 above invoice; for ED, $1500 above for the M4 and $2000 for the M3. Things may have changed.
Good luck and save the manuals!

Hey just thought I chime in that you might want to look at a 30Jahre...they basically match your build specs plus you get individual color and interior, and you might look at better resale value in the future...who knows!!! Anyway, I've seen some very low mileage examples go in the mid 60's...so if you're not set on new that's what I would go for.
