You'll love the MT, way better compare to regular MT of non-M cars. No dead-spot, no delay, clutch is smooth and crisp gear shifting. I wouldn't get this car any other way on trans wise

I think the MT in the F8X is fantastic. It's much smoother than my other BMWs, almost Porsche like. Compared to the MT in my E39 M5 and Z4M coupe, the clutch is much lighter as well. It took me a bit to get used to it (and I still kind of like the heavy clutch and somewhat notchy feel in my M5 after 12 years of DD), but now I love it.
My only criticism of the MT is the inability to select or deselect rev-matching in any of the engine throttle modes.

Agree, sometimes it's nice but around neighborhood when you down-shift from 3-2 that rev matching will make neighbors turn head and may think you are showing-off when you don't intend to. So I may get BMS coding to turn it off |

I believe MT is still available on all M-cars, not sure about SUV though.
my wife and I agree, the MT clutch on our M3 is way better than non M-car clutch. Too bad Audi discontinued theirs MT, I like the Audi clutch as well. Though the slave cylinder seized on us around 75K miles on the Audi. Will see if X4M would have MT next year., I need to replace our behemoth X6 50i soon before the engine explode |

I highly doubt the new X4M will have a manual option. The new F90 M5 removed both DCT and Manual options in favor of an auto trans. The F80 may be the last manual M car

It's silly because I can't even compare the car with any other car, the closest is like a Civic type R, a Golf R or ATS-V. That's like comparing apples to watermelon, I guess they are both round. Glad we are getting this car fully Individual how she wants it, most likely keep it for a very long time. |
