Invisihitch on X5 M Sport equipped with OEM BMW Carbon Fibre Rear Diffuser
I was unable to find any solid info on this setup.
It was confirmed that Invisihitch is compatible with M-Sport bumper, but I am looking for any information whether or not it works with CF diffuser installed. The factory Towing package cannot be ordered when CF diffuser is part of the order build. But that is different (OEM) hitch assembly. Anyone tried this? If so, pictures will be appreciated. Thanks! |

200 views and no confirmation from anyone who has done this.
So I assume the current Invisihitch design might not allow for DIY install once F15 is equipped with OEM CF rear diffuser. |

I have not done this, but while researching hitches, I did confirm that there is no cutting to the underside of the MSport bumper cover needed because there's already a half-moon section already cut out. Confirmed that on my own car. If you install the rear diffuser, it sits/is mounted to the underside, so I'd say it will not work/will require cutting.

I had a quick look at my setup. Unless the diffuser is <1" thick or the design of the inivisihitch has changed since I got mine it will not fit. Here is a picture of the space between the bottom of the M sport bumper and the top of the invisihitch ball mount attachment. Hope this helps.

My car has the factory fit retractable towbar. I’m about to order the carbon diffuser, and two BMW dealers have confirmed that the diffuser WILL fit with the towbar. The BMW sites say that the diffuser won’t fit with the aftermarket bar, so maybe they’re different.

From what I am being told, it WILL NOT fit with US specific factory bar (for factory orders placed in US/Canada), but WILL fit with the factory retractable towbar available on factory orders placed on markets outside of US/Canada. That is why I am looking at aftermarket options from Invisihitch or Stealth Hitch now.

I can confirm now that Stealth Hitch towing and rack accessories will clear the M Sport bumper equipped with M Performance Carbon Fiber diffuser.
It was great to deal with Steve, he outright guaranteed to make this work for me. We discussed the options to adjust the accessories, if necessary. But the accessories fit without any adjustments needed. Quite happy with the setup. Big thank you to another member [ramsal] , without whose help the install would take me at least twice as long... Was looking for info on this and finally found it via a google search. I had the same q as i'm about to pull the trigger on an aftermarket diffuser (non-carbon fibre from an ebay seller in Latvia) but the hitch takes priority.
Does anyone have any experience with the stealth hitch and non-CF diffusers? |
