Introduction

Hey everyone! I have recently purchase a used 2014 BMW X5 xdrive35d with the M-sport package in Carbon Black metallic. A few months back, my mom bought the same exact car and I absolutely fell in love with it. Hers was purchased new of course and I couldn't fit a $80,000 purchase into my budget so I found mine with 52,000 miles on it for $42,000. It has every package available on it and I couldn't be happier with it. I traded in a 2008 Lexus IS350 for this car because I wanted something with more space. Here are some photos of the car. I do plan on modifying it slightly (diesel tune, wheels, carbon fiber bits) so let me any suggestions you many have. Thanks everyone and I'm excited to be a part of this community!

P.S. I also own a 2005 BMW M3 which is my absolute pride and joy. That being said I'm pretty familiar with the BMW brand.

Looks like it was well cared for by it's first owner. Congrats on the new whip!

I had a E46 M3 a few cars ago and definitely loved that car but living in a condo and needing something more utilitarian resulted in my last two cars being SUVs. I definitely miss that car sometimes!

Oh the memories.

Very nice! How are you liking the Night Vision option? Pretty useful, or a bit of a gimmick? And how about the B&O stereo? I haven't heard it in person yet, but for the price, it better be good!

Woops! I forgot about night vision. Thats one option that I don't have. Honestly I'm not too upset about it because I like the grill better without the night vision gear. But the B&O speakers are the best. Even someone who isn't an audiophile would be able to tell the difference compared to the HK speaker. Not to say they aren't good, the B&O is just better.

Smart on the night vision. I have NV and having a hard time finding a black-grill that would fit the camera.

Yeah, I wasn't able to get satisfying sound out of HK yet. Maybe I need to play with equalizer setup options in the menu, but I feel like as is - something is missing

I've heard some say turning off logic 7 improves the sound. I've played with the equalizer a bit and left Logic 7 on for now. I've found that the HK system seems to sound better as the volume is turned up higher. Now I'm tempted to find a F15 with the B&O to hear the difference.

Are you sure you have B&O? I see the pic of your interior, and they look like regular HK speakers.

B&O have silver speakers guards.

Odd that folk don’t rate the HK. I think it’s pretty damn good, but also ensure I’m feeding my stereos decent quality audio. Even the best stereos will sound crap with rubbish quality input. I had B&O on the SQ5 which I thought was pretty decent but the HK beats that hands down.

I have HK in both my X5 and my 6-series GC. It literally sounds twice as good in the 6-series GC.

Wow, that must sound awesome. Audiophile I am not, but I cannot stand poor quality sound. Maybe I’m just new to premium car audio.

Nice car, I also bought 35d Alpine white 2 months ago and also have e46 06 M3. I could not be happier between these two cars it's a complete package.

I find our HK is better than my MB's HK by a long shot, and they are from the same model year.

Funny off-topic story, the MB's HK speakers started melting, one by one, even when car was off. Started with fire smells, followed by loud static-like popping from the melting speaker. Had to remove one door panel to find the first culprit. Second one was the factory sub, that was easier to disconnect.

MB replaced them all under warranty (even though I was out of warranty). Now I swear it sounds worse than before. I'm thinking about removing door panels in the spring and checking part numbers...maybe they gave me the non-HK speakers as replacements. Then it'd be on like Donkey Kong.

CONGRATS!!! Curious, what will you do to "diesel tune"? I have a '17 35d, and I would love it to sound more "diesel", more robust!

I too had an E46 M3. It was a Competition Package Interlagos Blue with light gray leather and it was amaaaaaaazing! The birth of our son, put us into a BMW wagon and X5
