LED cornering lights?

So, there was me thinking there are no more old fashioned bulbs left on the car after doing the LED indicator upgrade, and low and behold, the cornering lights (the ones inside the inner side of the main headlight unit, not the foglights) are traditional halogen bulbs! Has anyone upgraded these to LED? I have the Xenon headlights, btw.

I like the Bimmian lights, but can’t see anything on their website. Any ideas?

I was thinking to do same, but got distracted by other mods for now. Please update us if you'll find out something

I did LED corner light upgrade in my previous 3 series bmw, but what I noticed is that light output was not enough (compared to stock bulb) during evening and only became really visible during night. So I guess we need to make sure LED bulb will have proper specs

Shit I thought the only cornering lamp was the fogs, which I don't like (which forces me to roll around with the fogs on at night).

Wife's Escalade has bad ass cornering lamps...but it's a GM, so they don't get any props or credit anyway.

You'll need to code out the bulb check or else you'll get intermittent flickering with the LED bulbs. I still need to swap mine and code but it's been raining non stop here for weeks.

I went with the exact same ones in the link as I couldn't find a stealth version of the PY24W, and like ceeteex5 said I coded them to leds

Hey Gang,
Just installed these, and they work perfectly. No startup strobing,
No error code. Just a perfect LED turn signal.

Yeah so I'm not crazy, went outside last night. The only cornering lamps I can find on mine are the fogs. Then I find Euro vehicles have cornering lamps inside their headlamp housing as well (inboard side of housing). Wonder if anyone has done a USA retrofit modification to install the Euro cornering lamp? Can someone in Europe snap some pictures of theirs so we can see? Would be cool if we just punch out a plug/blank in the housing, throw in the bulb, and get the correct pigtail. Unless BMW actually had totally different housings made, which is pretty rare these days with standardization being so prevalent.

Ok, so looking in the manual, the bulbs are H7 55w.

Will these ones work https://bimmian.com/Accessories-for-...g-Light-Bulbs/

As they are active lights, I’m wondering if the LED upgrade would have the same throw/ active effect that the halogen bulbs have?

Those should fit as long as you can confirm the bulb they are going to ship is in fact a H7. In terms of throw and output, they'll probably be less and could potentially produce a lot of glare to oncoming traffic. Do you know if those inner lights are projectors? That should help cut down on glare if so.

Changing the bulbs shouldn't impact the active headlight functionality as the whole projector/housing will move, not just the bulb.

Yep, I'll get them to check. The current bulbs move around a lot (looks like a funky light show at night!), but I'm not sure if they are projectors. I've emailed Bimmian, so will see what they come back with.

LED Pix

Sorry, There will be no pix.
I would have to show a video of starting the X5. While showing the LED not strobing. Then go in the cockpit and show no error, or bulb out on the dash.
So I will not be going that far, but it is all good, and took 5 minutes to do both sides. Best $23 I spent on my new X5 so far.
BMW really has made bulb changes SOOOOO much easier since my first 2008 335xi E90. Just did a headlight on it last weekend. It took an hour.
Good Luck X5 owners, anyone local I'll be glad to help you with the install.
