F15 or G05

Well, a lot of the camo has been removed in the recent spy shots of the G05.

From the looks perspective, I sure am glad I have an F15. Demand for F15s still on dealer lots might go up after the G05 is released

No surprise really as we pretty much suspected it was going to receive the huge kidney treatment that BMW currently seems to be applying to all future models.

Once the camo is off, and people see it in the flesh, it’ll look good. The F15 still looks great, as does the E70, so any updates should be good.

Yah, the rear end also looks like a mash up between Audi/Mercedes. Maybe the M-Sport version will look better.

The giant kidney grilles are overkill. And what's the deal with the fake exhaust tips.

It's too soon to pass judgement. I am skeptical of it no question but I am sure the M versions will be pretty nice.

I was pretty hard on the new X3 as well until I went a drove an M40. There is a lot to like about it. Especially the new interior styling. The exterior actually looks really good in person too and I hated it in the pictures I had seen.

So before I completely condemn it, I will wait and see. I will also enjoy watching the price come down on the F85 too though.

Hope navigation and dash graphics surpass those of the new S Q5.

People pass judgement so early without seeing the full production vehicle without camo. As is the case every time when a new model comes out, the folks that have a f15 will always say they like their's better.

Yep, too early to tell. Lots of camo on unflattering pictures. Rare for me to like the preproduction cars with the camo. Once the camo comes off it's usually pretty good.

I think the chrome slats on the kidney grills also make them stand out and look larger than they will in black. Hopefully the chrome slats is not the default.

I passed judgement on the F15 early in a negative way. Until I saw the Msport. The fender flares, front aero dynamics and design along with the fat tires made the F15 look really good.

I still dislike the some of the appearance of the Xline and Lux line. Without the reason guy options they look tall and clumsy due to the skinny tires and no fender flares.

Edit: based on the recent X7 concept the front kidney grills make the front look ridiculously hideous.

A local resident spotted the G05 in Taylors, SC today. Taylors is very close to Greer, SC ~ Plant Spartanburg. The individual that took the photos initially believed it to be the X7 because of the HUGE kidneys, but also thought it looked too small to be the X7 and later learned that it is the G05 X5.

As much as I like the sleek kidney grills on 8er, I think making kidney grill bigger isn't necessary a bad thing for BMW. It has been BMW's a true signature for decades and claiming back more distinctive grills will generate a good public recognition for the brand.

Are the engines just carried over from pervious design?

BMW has not had kidneys this prominent since the 507.

M50d will get quad turbo engine with 400hp. It's getting more and more complex, probably not a best thing, but at least BMW is pushing the limits and creating some exciting new cars - IMHO this is what BMW was doing historically - leading the herd in terms of innovations
