X5 2012 35i xdrive Towing Capacity

I’m gathering info on towing a travel trailer with my 2012 X5 35i with the M sport package. From what I’ve found, the towing capacity is 6000 lbs.
Anyone ever towed that much behind their X5? Any advice on a tow package?
The dealer wants $1600 to install..
Thanks!

I have an Invisihitch and prefer it to the BMW hitch. Towing capacity is higher too, according to Invisihitch - I believe it is 7,700 lbs. technically, but the main limitation is going to be tongue weight, which is only 600 lbs max. I have an X5 35i and it tows my GT4 on an open aluminum trailer ok but on hills it needs to down shift. Total weight of the trailer with the GT4 on it is approximately 4,300 lbs. I am going to trade 35i in for the 35d which should work better for towing. I could certainly keep towing with the 35i but it will be more enjoyable with the 35d and I won't have to stop for fuel as often. My 35i is X Line not M Sport and I have the standard suspension. Will order self-leveling on the 35d.
