Sat Navigation Graphics

Whilst researching the options available when I ordered my X5, I noticed that the navigation screen on the BMW website showed the graphics in 3D. Things like mountains, or tall buildings were shown as 3D models against the road maps, picking out landmark buildings more easily whilst driving through towns.
Does this exist on the current Idrive or do I need to download a version of Google Earth onto my Sat Nav. 10 months of use and no sign of this on my car

There is a setting for it on my 2018. I faintly remember one of the BMW Geniuses mentioning it's new for 2018 when he was walking me through the Nav. I'll check where in settings it is when I get in the car a bit later today.

Thanks for the heads up.
My setting is set to this but with 10 months of driving never seen any 3D images.
Is this geared to very selective locations or is this constantly available to view?
Thanks,
Greg

This works when you are in bigger cities and the map scale is set to 200 or 400( if I remember correctly). Anything larger than that, 3D buildings won't show up.

Must drive in London more often in future to benefit this!?!?
Off to the Alps skiing in February so will see if these show up in 3D.

Yeah this option is available in yours (I have it in mine and we bought the cars like 1 month apart if i recall)

The map needs to be zoomed in a certain amount (cant recall the exact range) and it only pops up in built up areas that have been mapped (like London for example)...

Mine is normal until I enter London every morning driving into work, and then 3D buildings start popping up everywhere

Thanks Thawke good to know
As I said don't drive in London much so haven't noticed - mainly M25 and that is flat as a pancake!
Off topic how are you enjoying the X6 nearly 10 months of ownership?

Loving it, time's flown with it and it hasn't felt like 10 months. Always brings a smile whenever I take it out (which is everyday as a drive to work)
