Does fuel filter need to be replaced when changing fuel pump?

Have a faulty fuel pump that's getting replaced. They recommend replacing the fuel filter as well, is this necessary?

Also for the fuel pump, was quoted $500 + 150 labor. Fair price? Thanks

It's actually built into the pump so you're good

Not sure why they'd recommend changing the filter. Don't let them charge you for it.
