Let me be the first one...

8% discount for a used (2 year old car) with a new engine? You can pick up a brand new car for close to your current ask price.

Try 20-30% off and it might actually sell...

2017 Build of this same car would be $67,000MSRP but good luck finding a dealer that hasn't spec'd the crap out of the car making it 70+.

Actually, I challenge you to find me one, brand new, in YMB, manual, within close to my asking price.

Dealers are already offering ~10% off on 2017 leftovers. Unfortunately, there is nothing "special" about this car that would justify a premium. Bottom line, you have a 2 year old car with a major repair that will defer a lot of buyers.

Over the weekend just go to your local dealer (or carmax) and get it appraised (cash offer). You can also ask them to do a search on all new 2017/18 and see the lowest MSPR car and just adjust for discounts.
Market is never wrong at pricing things. You will see how much you actually get for it...

Good luck with the sale.

Again, just terrible bad advice. It's like telling a new bride looking to get her ring appraised for FMV to simply check 3 different pawnshops.

Obviously I will get a lower price at a dealer, they are reselling the car. That's their business, businesses should attempt to make profit. So any price received from them would be lower.

I use blackbook for pricing and my own research.

As for a major repair, it was done at BMW with BMW specialists involved. Not "franks back ally repair and tan"

The crank hub is a known issue in these cars 2014 through early 2016, which again, was repaired by BMW and the car is fully warrantied.

In actuality, it should give the buyer peace of mind because the crank hub is a very real issue, which has since been solved.

I think maybe you're just bored or like giving terrible advice.

itsmejoehaha Good luck with the sale! I practically tried giving mine away to no avail. Now I'm about to get raked over by a dealer..And I actually think the asking price is not that out of line if at all.

It's really an individual opinion as to whether or not now having a brand new motor replaced under warranty is a bad thing..It's a new motor now which I'd think is somewhat of a good thing. I have a GTR and just had the motor completely rebuilt for a build and would think that didn't "hurt" my resale value but it's a bit different of a topic.

Thanks! Thankfully I'm in a position that allows me to see if the right person is out there. I've done my homework, only time will tell.

Versus a car that will fail later and potentially out of warranty? Interesting logic.

OP - you have a clean car and price is very fair! Brand new motor is a GREAT thing! GL with sale

Might....ours is a $71k build, not including $2500 in M Performance parts; 6MT YMB with 16k miles, and the consignment guy is thinking $53k is about what it will sell for. Flawless condition. That nets us $49,500; right at 30% off.

BMW is doing a great job flooding the market with the F80 platform. Get a clue; stop making so many cars and devaluing the brand!

I'm going to eventually need to start a new thread...

Consignment, CarMax, Trade-Ins... They are not comparisons.

As for high cost builds; options are worthless unfortunately in a resale situation for the most part. You get the cool factor off the bat but you'll never recoup that cost when selling.

The problem with consignment is that they want to get it off their lot as soon as possible so they will discount the car hard to do that.

Consignment, carmax, trade in... those numbers should be used to come up with a "realistic" ask price. Dealers are in the business to make money so they will try to make a 10-20% profit.... The problem arises when people ask 30-40% more and can't figure out why the car is still not sold 1,2,3 or 4 months later... We all think our car is special and unique, unfortunately buyers do not always value things the same way.

Check the forum here. All cars that were nice and competitively priced sold pretty fast. On the other hand we have cars sitting here for some time and all you get in a price reduction and a bump from the owner.
