N55 Motor for rebuild only. Partially Dis-assembled
My 2011 N55 with 58000 had its OFHG replaced and the dealer allowed something into oil system. Drove it 4 miles and it seized the #1 rod bearing. They bought me a used motor and installed. No idea of any other contamination in engine so it needs a total strip and rebuild. I doubt much if any of the rod swarf was allowed to circulate as it ran perfect and seized tight in seconds. Didn't drive it or start it after that. Crank is likely toast as bearing is seized hard to journal on crank and spun in rod. I was going to make killer coffee table out of it...but there are so many sharp edges that I am afraid of someone kicking it and bleeding out on my new carpet. Head should be fine, but again I don't know what else is lurking in the oil passages. Pistons all look great from below. No HPFP, no injectors, no valve cover, no starter, no water pump, no plugs, no coils, no Valvetronic motor, no cam chain or guides, no intake. I'll probably keep the crank unless someone thinks it can be reused....make a nice lamp out of it. No idea what value is left in this but if someone wanted to build an N55 it would be great. Make me an offer. fb picture uploader
