M Key Case accessory question

Are the M keychain flap material pretty sturdy? I'm trying to limit the amount of accidental trunk openings. I've been having and wondering if the cover will giveway to house keys pushing against the cover and still manage to push the trunk button.

2015 BMW F82 M4  [10.00]
I have the an older version of the key case pictured here:
http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/50...XLINE-KEY-CASE

I don't have any house keys attached, so I can't really speak to whether or not other keys would activate the trunk or not. I believe I can press on it with the key full inside and it would open the trunk. So based on that, I believe a key or anything in your pocket hitting it, would be enough to open the trunk.

Hope that helps.

Thanks that does help. I guess I'll have to just turn the function off. I've had two diff neighbors close my trunk twice now. They must think I'm a retard.

There is a TSB that was issued in August 2016 that was posted on the F15 Forum for this issue; see http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...11&postcount=8

I've been having this issue also. My trunk will just be open. Lately I've been holding the key in my hand when I walk away from the car. Next dealer visit Im gonna ask to have it reprogrammed. Never knew that was a possibility. This is why I love car forums.

Those look cool but the trunk button is still easily hit. How is that preventing accidental opening?

I'm assuming the case increases the thickness of the fob by a few millimeters decreasing the chance of you hitting the button. That is assuming the surface it is sitting on is flat.

If you have it in your pocket with buttons facing away from your body, I don't see it hitting the button whereas if the buttons were facing your body they probably would.

I was given this one as a gift and it hasn't had a accidental opening as of yet. It is a pain to loop a key ring through though, and it is hard to remove the key blade (if you happen valet a lot).

Can we code the 'double click' our self? Anyone have the parameter to modify?

Ok. I like both options you guys posted. It is hard to tell in the pic how recessed the key actually is.

Would I need to have the car with me when asking the dealership to upgrade the key for the double click feature? Just wondering if I could stop by and have my SA quickly do it or is it gonna be a scheduled whole thing.

Yeah but they did already anyway.

Seriously though, the best thing I've done in years was completely kill the whole concept of the key ring as it turns out why did I ever need that again? Usually I carry one house key that I've started putting in my mini wallet and the car key goes by self in my front pocket.

I've got lots of other keys and shit, but I broke them all apart and only grab them for when I need them or keep them in a bag.

It's changed my life man.

The coding is on the car my friend, not the fob.

This is what I have but have to be aware of the orientation of the keys when I slip it into my pocket. Too much thinking required. Need a better solution.

With all the wonderful features and functional pieces in the car, this truck open button has been giving me a fit. My trunk would open magically and people in my company keep on thinking I have bad memory/habit (forgetting to close the trunk).

Please fix this BMW.
