question about the side mirrors

Hey all,

I have a 2017 m3 and noticed that both side mirrors have a blue tint/film on them that doesn't extend all the way to the edge.

Not sure if it's part of the dimming feature or if it's something like a protective film that the dealer forgot to take off before delivery. I'm afraid of damaging it if I try to take it off and it's a film that's supposed to be there.

Just looks a little weird because it makes the mirror look obviously not uniform.

Anyone know?

My car also has the same thing. 2017 m4. I agree it does look off as none of my previous bmw cars have had it and they were also heated and auto dimming. I wonder if they changed how they implemented the heating or dimming by using this film.

It's the auto dimming feature.

My Audi S4 had that as well. I would just leave it.

This is normal. All auto dimming BMW mirrors have this "frame" look to them. Have it on my 2011 535, 2015 X5 and 2017 M3

I guess it's somewhat new as my e92 never had the frame look yet the dimming worked beautifully. Just wondering why they went to this what I think is ugly when the previous implementation worked just fine.

You could always sell your new car and buy another E92.
