1 Nail in a tire and it needs to be replaced..?
i found out that
1 new tire costs between $425-475 and cannot be repaired because of its speed rating ... the integrity of the tire and ZR rating?? no matter how new.. like 1300 miles... i had another tire guy tell me there is a patch they could use that is better than a plug... but BMW responded to me to buy their wheel and tire insurance warranty package b/c it would need to be replaced with a new tire, it cannot be fixed... anyone have any input on the subject..? what you would do if you happen to pick one up?? |

if stock they should be PS2, not runflats. put on a quality patch and you are good to go. the only diff with runflats is if you have driven 50 mph on the flat tire for a long time then you can not patch it because its been stressed too much. but if you have a runflat and it goes flat an you pull over and drive raeally slow a mile to the shop it should be ok to repair. but the tire shop may not do it.

probably not... it's BS, patch it. i've always had my Z rated tire patched. it's the same with RFTs..... they want to sell you a new tire.. and absolve themselves of any responsibility.... they play off fear... and it is dishonest. |

Should have purchased the tire insurance. It's a no brainer....For $10 a month you have coverage for 5 years for shit like this.

I repeat what Gasman said in a big way... spend the cash and get the tire insurance plan offered by the dealership. They replace the tires no questions asked. My last car the 330i had (9) NINE tires replaced with ZERO cost other than the $900 bucks I spent when I bought the car.

3 years for $795 just walking into the dealer i get my car serviced at for the insurance.... i got fam in bmw, just got hooked up with 450 for 5... and they replace the tire with one nail.. but i have found out that they do have speed rated patches for situations like that if you dont wanna change it.. but again if you are a serious driver you may want to think twice..

Dude patch the tire you are not in Germany on the autobahn
save yourself some money and patch the tire for now you are not driving over 150 mph for a long period of time. The tread is still good and new, if you feel like you just got to spend money spend it on the tire insurance just in case something like this happens again.

I would just go to the dealer when one of my run flats would catch a nail or whatever... out with the old in with the new and no questions asked.
I too was amazed there was not any sort of questions or tire inspection before they would slap a new one on. All I did was sign the form saying they had given me the new tire and out the door I would go. I always thought it was the best thing since sliced bread.
