I m in LA this week for training but I did take extra day off from family to take the drive I been thinking about for a while.
At this time I rented A3/2-series convertible. My plan is to just drive north for half the day, then drive south back to LA for the other half. Sleep over near LAX and head home on Sunday. Any suggestions are very welcome. Interested in food, scenic places, and twisty roads to drive for fun w/o getting a ticket. Thanks in advance.

-encinal canyon -latiago canyon -stunt rd -tuna canyon -decker rd -westlake blvd -topanga canyon onto old topanga to mulholland -Piuma Rd -if u want to enjoy a cruise, start from santa monica and take the 1 all the way to point mugu, very scenic. Also if u dont mind a little off road, head over to deer creek rd. There are two incredible viewpoints (one has an obvious entrance, the other is further up hill and has a smaller entrance and needs ALOT of clearance to get up to). Bring a couple of lawn chairs. angeles crest highway -upper big tujunga canyon rd. you can get to some crazy speeds here. heaps of fun -big tujunga canyon road -Angeles forest hwy all the way to Palmdale (mostly desert) edit: -I wouldn't suggest going towards cedar springs for spirited driving tho, that area gets cold FAST and next thing you know there's snow and ice everywhere Last edited by aajjcc; 12-07-2016 at 01:30 PM.. |

You can get to Pebble Beach in 6 hrs, but that's non-stop with no traffic. I'd want to stop and take pics/soak up the scenery etc! Man, that sounds like fin. Hmm.. you're inspiring me to take the day off and do the same!

Good info. Thank you all for help.
My plan is to go to point mugu then come back to Malibu and go through some of the canyons listed above. Then in the afternoon go to angels crest area. p.s. Never seen a canyon other then on TV

I've been working on my break-in miles.
Over Thanksgiving weekend I took the PCH from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara. Last weekend I took the PCH from Santa Monica to the 154 to Solvang. That was a very scenic 2-hour drive. |
