Rear tires

If I switch my tire setup to 255 all around instead of 255front/275rear, how will it impact a daily driver? Will it be a noticeable difference for everyday use?
Also will it look a little odd aesthetically? My tires are going bald and I don't track the car at all, so was looking to see if i need to spend the extra money for a wider rear set. Thanks!

I can't imagine anyone advising reducing the rear width, these cars are already traction limited with the 275s. I've only had my zcp (285s) about a month and still in break in, but the few times I've gotten on it from a dig I quickly learned how fast the traction control kicks in w/o MDM. I wouldn't recommend going square on this car.

That would be a very bad idea with this car. Maybe this isn't the right car for you?

Man - thought this was going to be another 305 or more thread! - agree with above, hard to see advantage of narrow rear tire unless it cuts through snow better perhaps (??) but rather get dedicated snow/winter tires - have 305's on rear and work like a charm as a daily driver, not to mention looking bad ass

No way should you go down in the rear, you should go wider.

The only reason to go 255 square is for a winter setup.

Not designed for that type of configuration.

+1. You need as much rubber as you can put down in the back with the ///M4. It is ridiculously easy to break traction, especially when cornering, if you aren't good on the throttle.

Going small on the back end is just inconceivable on the F8x; less so on the F3x.

Going bald in the rears because you're losing traction and spinning the tires which causing more wear. You need to go wider. I went 295 in the rear and it handles much better now.

yeah the Stock F80/F82 tires are staggered for a reason. You cannot do the same width on front and back.

I might not know about wheel setups but you definitely shouldn't do front and back 255.

Continental Extremecontact DW's are half the price of either Contisport 5P or Pilot SuperSport on Tire Rack in 275x35x19. You won't get the ultimate performance of the 5P's or MPSS but if that's not a concern it's a huge saving. Do a search on here and you'll find a few M3/4 owners using them on their DD's
