So driving back to home from the coast - sun now out and roads mildly moist. Pressed M button for a few crackles leaving Eastbourne. Up to roundabout no.1 on dual carriageway having passed an R8 which was now behind me. Over that one slowly. Immediately to next roundabout turning left. I thought I'd head off left with a certain amount of vigour and holy cr*p back really comes out. Wasn't expecting that but two lanes, gathered up neatly and off up the road. Must have just hit a patch on something as MDM not usually like that - R8 stays behind me.

Up to the big roundabout where hang right - it's a nice big one and bit quicker. Going round not daftly quick but I know MDM in these damp conditions allows just a little slip with a prod so no great surprises. Or so I thought... Back goes again demanding a good 1/2 turn of oppo lock but all fine as 3 lanes here and nothing on it apart from me and R8. All gathered up and on we go.

Come off roundabout a bit more gingerly, R8 comes up alongside - thumbs up and heads off.

Meanwhile I am sitting there scratching my bl**dy head. What the hell has happened to my MDM? Whilst it was fun, full arse out antics like that - there's a time and place and that wasn't it on HM's highway at that time.

You f**king muppet - I'd selected M2 instead of M1 which meant it wasn't on MDM and Sport throttle at all but DSC off and Sport Plus throttle....

Lesson learnt - pay attention when pressing buttons. What an utter prize plonker

At least you have the driving skill to catch it. I'd have likely done a 180.

Guy,
Have done something similar on a couple of occasions, once in the M5 [so should have learned] and once in the M4. Have gone for my M1 button, to show the world, that i am the man, and dont mess with me, only to feel no power, no torque, and limp off with my tail between my legs. Ive only gone and hit the limit button, lol, a real chest deflating moment .

Does bl**dy = bloody? If so is bloody a curse/bad word?

Does it equate to f*ck in the USA? If no how many degrees above or below?

I'll admit I'm a tad offended, if you can change your previous post to E***x to save us having to read such a nasty word, I think many would appreciate it.

On subject though, I think some sort of audio cue to let you know what mode you're in wouldn't be a terrible idea. Also, doesn't going DSC off via the M button require second confirmation? Must admit haven't had much of a play with DSC off just yet.

Ahhh I seeeee. E***x is tres crude. Sorry I'm slow this evening and enjoying Monday beers. Your subtlety was lost on me momentarily but I didn't want to offend folk with the other expletives I used, so it was wise to edit or face being banned, stoned, hanged, drawn and quartered...

MDM also requires double press so both my M1 and M2 buttons require double press which is why brain had a malfunction.

And is there not a big yellow light on the dash stating DSC off or am I mistaken

No you're not mistaken at all. MDM also puts a very similar yellow light on the dash (yes I know there are slightly different).

So if you're not paying attention, which clearly I wasn't, just appears in my peripheral as yellow because I've pressed M button (as both bring up yellow on dash, I don't tend to look). I just look at HUD and both modes were set to same HUD setup.

Have now changed so DSC off in M2 also changes HUD to rev one.

It's for that reason I don't have DSC off programmed into either of the M buttons MDM is fine for me.

Activating MDM mode always says "DSC off", but it isn't - MDM only changes the level of slip allowed before TC kicks in.

I know, as I said I preset MDM not DSC "fully" off.
