Silverstone Leather
Hi all,
Having a bit of a wobble with my interior colour due to a couple of reviews I have seen where the side bolster looks utterly knackered after 12 or so months. (Plus stains) I have gone for full silverstone and I am thinking of changing to black just to keep it looking good.. So the question is do I stick with MG/SS or switch to full black which then gives me then a bit more exterior colour options..

But do you think the black will look any less knackered in months Scott?
I dunno! I assume leather is leather regardless of the colour and may wear the same? I've gone for black as the missus insisted she wanted it and was concerned about looking after SS. Also like the white double stitching that stands out which I think is far better than the piping on the standard 3 series merino leather. But I would have happily gone for SS! I really like it.

I too have gone with full Black leather as opposed to SS.
Just couldn't be bothered with the upkeep of the SS. With the best will in the world I know it would bug me. |

Well I think it will look better as it will not show the dirt or stains as bad plus the maintenance will be a hell of a lot less.. I was ok with it until I saw this review http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1266873
If you fast forward to where he is talking about the interior and it shows an image of the side bolster and it looks really bad!! If mine looks like that after a year I would be wanting a new seat.. I do look after my cars but I want them to be a daily driver and not look crap after 12 months of ownership..

I love light coloured leathers and they can look great even after years of use but you'll have to be prepared to clean it often and be careful how you get in and out of the car to stop the bolsters showing scuff marks.

I chose SS because I think it looks amazing and makes the car feel more luxurious. I've had black for ages now and want a change.
I'm just going to keep a bag of leather wipes in the glove compartment, and have a strict no food/drink policy. I wouldn't worry about upkeep if you are going to take care of it. Black will wear just the same, although obviously it will show less. |

I've got SS I have had 9 BMW's the color is stunning and stands out gets more compliments than any BMW I've had yet. After 25g miles seats can get slightly dirty, I use window cleaner without ammonia from Costco, spray on once and anything comes of easily and perfectly.
SS looks awesome, there is something to be said about interior that's almost white against black dash and black carpet.

SS is an excellent choice, I'm counting on it
It might take a little more looking after but I think it will look beautiful and lighten the interior nicely.

Had Silverstone for 2 years. Used Dr Leather colour block when new then occasionally their cleaning cream and am very happy with it. After 5 m3s with black leather over the years got bored with it.

Try this from Costco or some retailers, good on tinted windows too since no ammonia.

I changed my spec from SS as I was worried. I'm pretty hard in the car, me and my son play football in all weather and hop in unchanged after training etc. Nightmare with SS and I didn't want to come over as a fuss pot!
SO interior held up to the same treatment, as in sure with care and cleaning would SS...but I bottled it just in case!

Just can't be bothered with the extra upkeep, or should I say paying my detailer for it! Black will be far more manageable for my lifestyle. |
