New Car in the Garage
So my new X5 arrived a week and a half back - right while I was in the United States for work, so I didn't get a chance to get in and pick it up until last Friday. Although the process was both laboriously slow (due the dealership being very busy and having me wait) and rather rushed (since it was done at the end of the day) - I managed to get a few snaps of the process.
Here's my 2012 F30 320D out the front of the dealership, all ready to be traded in. Even though I was about to hand the car in, I still felt the compulsion to give it one last clean before handing it over... I didn't want them to think I was a slob when it came to cars. After much waiting, I was told that my new vehicle was ready. I expected the whole throwing-back-the-cloth thing, but I have to say that the red bow was a rather tacky addition. The new car revealed - I wasn't able to get a better angle than this at the dealer as there was another car being delivered directly behind me. Fast forward three days, and I returned to the dealership to have my new wheels fitted. Thinking I wasn't going to see them again, I decided to get another picture outside the dealership with the factory rims. (EDIT - They gave me the original rims back, even though they were originally supposed to be traded as a part of a discount on the original purchase. I'll look to sell these I think) And finally, here is the vehicle as it looks now with the genuine 599M 21" wheels added. Next step will be to get the rest of the M Performance Kit installed when it arrives next week - then it's off for tinting and paint protection.

Congrats. It must have felt pretty amazing coming out of a 3 series to get into a X5. We traded in a 5 series to buy the X5. The difference in driving quality between our new X5 and previous 5 series is day and night. The X5 is smoother, heavy but quicker, and very quiet.

Congrats mate. Looks awesome with those 21", does it affect the ride quality at all? How much did they quote you for the ///M performance bodykit? I'll be interested to know as I'm thinking to install it at my local dealership in Melbourne.

At this point in time, I'm only having the front splitter, rear diffuser and decals for the sides fitted. They also quoted the flaps for the rear, but I opted not to go with those because I have children that will likely try to stand on them. Front Splitter - AU$2,145inc + $300 fitting Rear Diffuser - AU$1,650inc + $300 fitting Side Decals - AU$330inc + $220 fitting Rear Heckflaps - AU$825inc each (no fitting cost because I didn't go ahead). I'll get a shot when there is good light and put it up. The price on the wheels was AU$8,995 (about USD$6,460 or EUR$5,800). With that being said, the price of the wheels was effectively worked in to the car and included in the negotiated discount as a total cost. Originally I thought they had included a "trade in" value for the old wheels, but they ended up giving them back to me.

Thanks for your feedback on the 21" and the quotations of the Performance kit Ozorion. Don't forget to upload photos once they are fitted, reckon it would look awesome!
Are you planning to install a towbar as well? We have our fitted with a Westfalia brand at our local dealership as we go bike riding quite often and I have a Thule towbar bicycle carrier to transport our bikes. |
