What comes first: Detaling of wrapping?

Morning chaps

I'm gonna get the car detailed but also want a couple of areas wrapped. What should I do first?

Cheers

I have to admit that now with hindsight that I had spent some money on PPF on the front of the car. 2k in and it's already got stone chips. Just have to live with it now.

Cheers Guy

I'm thinking more, If I wrap then what ever they put on (gtechniq or similar) will also protect the wrapping. Or should I get the gtechniq applied first before the wrap?

You'd be better off asking the person who is going to detail the car

Yep, the honest truth is I don't know enough about it. Sorry.

Well... I have now spoken to the wrapper and detailer, both agree that I should get the wrapping done first (as it will be gloss black) and then have the car detailed / protected.

You can always get it sprayed to get it looking good again Guy.....

However, you dont want to be doing that every 2K miles!!!

Or maybe get it sprayed then put the PPF on the front in a few K miles time?

Will leave it now Andy - hardly noticeable. One of the wheels already has a small stone chip as well. Life has to go on and it IS my daily driver.

If it's a new car detail then really they should do a stage 1 polish just to get rid of any slight imperfections in paint prior to the wrap.

The wrap and detail on top.

this would be my route too... but you can't 'detail' and polish the wrap. infact you're not supposed to put any cleaning products, other than soapy water to wash it, on the wrap nor would you need to...

I have definitely heard of putting gtechniq stuff on top of films.

I've got self healing ppf on the front bumper and everything is Gtec ceramic coated.

I'm 3k in, varied roads and have just one or two small chips. so the coating is working. There is nothing on the front bumper! And if there was, its self healing, so apply some heat and hey presto!
