Individual colours! Would you?
Would you spend £3500 on Ferrari red? Or any other individual colour? Is Bmw keeping the best colours as extras only. Surly a imola red or something like that should be offered standard!
If no what would you spend £3500 on ??????

I'm very happy with SO and would also be happy with AY. However if there are no colors I really liked, I guess I might opt for spending the extra on an individual color.

If I were buying the car to keep it, I would definitely go the individual route. On a lease, I don't think so.

I wanted to get Individual, but in the end, I couldn't justify it. I really love Signal Green, but not enough for me to shell $4500 more than Austin Yellow, which I also love. Plus AY is rare enough in my neck of the woods, so it's more than "rare" enough for me.
The $4500 will go pretty far into modding/maintaining/repairing the E36 and E92 so that's a huge bonus with sticking to standard color.

Yes
It's just a car. Have fun with it. It's only money and you can make more. Some will spend much much more on mods. Everyone has their vice. |

Says the GIRL with the FR M3
Seriously though, I paid what I paid for what I got. I am very happy with it. My better half has easily dumped more than the premium for what I got into his M3 in mods...like I said everyone has their project |

I might pay for Frozen Blue if BMW ever allows it... otherwise, I'll pass and stick with SO or AY on my next M4.

cc Lups Anyway, Spionkop18 , depends entirely on the colour and what you want, how long you plan to hold the car, how significant the cost is relative to your net worth, etc. Nothing on these cars is 'worth it' in any objective sense of the word. nothing. Every dollar spent over the cost of a basic car is a discretionary dollar that you don't need to spend. So when it comes to options on an M it is all about your emotional or subjective return on your specific dollar. So....if you are planning on keeping it for a while and you want the personalized experience you can't find with the 'regular colours', and the dollars won't mean the difference between eating or starving or not saving or paying your mortgage or whatever for a few years then sure. I went 'quasi-individual' (TB) and I love it. Worth every penny, though for me it was relatively few pennies (I think I got it for like $500). Would I have spent a full $5k for something more unique? ....maybe. Of the basic colours, I liked SS quite a bit...nothing else grabbed me too hard (many were 'fine' but none were ) So in a world where I couldn't get my TB for $500, I might well have spent the extra dough to get a colour I did

I spent the money on SMB for my incoming F82. The E92 is Interlagos which I loved and was not IND. If Interlagos was available on the F82, I would have gotten it, but since YMB was not my thing, and the car must be blue (I'm still a child at heart who has blue everything), I figured I'd get the blue I liked best from all the pics I saw. I think the SMB will be worth every residualized cent.

The Ridiculous Spending Identity applies: [ridiculous item] $Xx,000 + [ridiculous add-on] $X,000 = still ridiculous QED Also, there's the ancient Socratic proverb: "to each his own ridiculousness, in his own ridiculous way"
