I don't get what's special about it. Not exactly like it's the first single. Top, bottom, log, twinscroll, it's all been done already.

Those welds look terrible..

If you're going to spend money on an ST kit, just buy a Motiv. I've been shopping for one lately and it's got the best craftsmanship and performance of the kits out there today:

Their picture's pretty low res, but as a welder I wouldn't have any problem with those welds as long as they have good fusion, proper penetration and no inclusions. Pretty welds aren't necessarily strong, and strong welds definitely don't need to be pretty.

It's more important since they did stainless that they backpurged, used the right filler and didn't overcook it.

Completely agree with you but you as a welder crafting a highend piece, would you not take time and pride in your work to pay attention to detail and clean up grid buff your weld to make it "more ascetically pleasing"? But yet still strong and functional. No point in clean welds with crappy mends and contact but as well take pride and craftsmanship to clean up?

spxxx lol yes, as in the welds are pretty ugly. Alittle grinding with a dremmel or some sanding to smooth it to makea little more rounded would go along way considering the price we pay for parts and the status of "german car =upscale quality".

Function will always triumph over form. But our car, our line, our status, & our expectation is the perfect blend of function meets form= the beautiful clean 1er.

No new information anyway, it was just a tease to try to generate hype. Nothing I hate more than teasers.

Is there a single turbo with tubular manifold and twin scroll that fits the E82?

Motiv is a log manifold which strikes me as a downgrade. I worry each cylinder will no longer flow equally. There are some others that won't fit E82, like some top mount solutions that are really for E9x.

JP Works twin scroll manifold is gorgeous. Seems to perform well too.

Short-runner is probably a more accurate description, though obviously i'm biased...The design of each cylinder's channel from the exhaust port is intentional for the above stated reasons.

FWIW MOTIV has had dedicated, per-cylinder EGT probes on their race car for two years now. I'm really, REALLY confident they've tested and proven their design more than other manifold vendors for this platform.

You'd potentially see the larger tubulars out flow it once you got healthy four digit WHP. But at the 6/7/8/9xx WHP levels these motors currently run at, it just hasn't shown itself to be an issue.

Results are fine but

1. Expect to wait. A long time.
2. Expect to modify the downpipe, dump tubes, and WG locations.

Thanks for adding that. I was overly brief earlier. Completely true.
