255/40/17 in the front
I have no experience with wheel/tire fitment since I never pushed the boundaries of clearance before so any help is appreciated. I'm looking to fit 255/40/17 bridgestone S0-4 Pole Positions in the front on OZ Ultraleggeras.
The wheel dimensions are 17x8 ET40 I currently have 2.4 degrees of camber in the front with fixed dinan camber plates and M3 control arms. Will this work? If not, what will I need to make it work? My other alternative is running 245/40/17 super sports but I'd prefer the 255/40 since it is closer to the factory ratio. |

I'm pretty sure all the camber in the world will not let you fit 255/40R17 in the front on any wheel without rubbing on stock fenders. (I tried to make 255/35R18 work for a while on ET40 wheel up front but it just wasn't working out, and that was with -3.x degrees camber). MAYBE if you really pull on your fenders enough you can make it work.

It will fit fine with a fender roll. I ran 255/40 on 17x8.5 ET40 up front with -2.5 camber and fender roll.
I now used 255/40 on 17x9 ET35 up front with -3 camber and more aggressive roll and clearancing without rub. The car regularly bounces the curbing on track without rubbing.

Ginger_Extract - are you running a square 17x9 setup with 255/40 R17s? I'm currently running two pairs of the stock rear (261 style - 8.5" - think offset is 52) rims with 255/35 R18s with a TC Kline coil over, camber plates, and front fender roll. I have 12mm spacers in front and 3mm spacers in rear.
This works very well, but my tire options are basically the R888/R888Rs in that size. I was thinking of going with the Kosei K5R wheels with a 45 offset. Thoughts? -Joe |
