RFT vs. F1's DECISIONS, DECISIONS
Gotta make a decision on this tomorrow...
One of my rear OEM tires blew today, run flat system kicked in and got me to the local tire shop. 19K miles and the outside edges of tires look like normal wear, but INSIDE EDGES---yikes, the one that went was worn down to the wires. Anyone experienced this kind of wear? GoodYear dealer says this is not normal, check your tires carefully folks... looks like I'm off to the BMW dealer to see what's causing this. Fronts have plenty of wear left on them. I would rather get the F1's they are considerably less $$$ and I know they ride softer too. RUN FLATS X 2 = 800.00 OTD F1's X 4 = 1,000.00 OTD I was asking about the F1's but dealer is having a hard time getting them quickly. One tire shop told me 6 - 7 days, wth? Goodyear was able to get the Potenzas tomorrow, a lot faster than the F1's??? go figure. I'll call him again tomorrow about the F1's and see what he says... they have not got them yet, they are due in tomorrow. Will the F1's detract from the laser handling of the car? BMW says the car is designed for run flats? oh brother...

Tried three retailers.
Goodyear headquarters says F1's are back ordered for weeks and UNAVAILABLE. Back to the RFT's...

he's stupid. i'll say it. if he's not going to listen to us, i dunno why he bothers posting stuff here. PLENTY Of other tires that meet/exceed performance of RFT for less.
I haven't had a flat with my NON-RFT and haven't carried a mobility kit.

Why is this posted in 2 spots on the forum? one under tires and one under regular stuff......or am I blonde and just don't get it. But I could swear I already gave my 2 cents on what tires are good.

well Rosie...you knowwww
in a literal sense, I hate keeping my car full of 'junk'. nothing is going to fly around when i go driving. the cabin area is spotless(sometimes lol) and trunk has california duster, which is harmless.

Get a set of Michelin PS2's If your a member of BJ's Wholesale club they can order PS2's cheaper than most places, Or Bridgestone Potenza PP's a set of 4 of those would be around the $1000 mark, OR another wonder of modern technology is Tirerack.com, You can buy from them at very competitive prices AND they have links on thier site to suggest local fitters for the tires that have been tried and reviewed, I would choose the tirerack option as I like them and used them before, and if your dead set of Goodyear F1's they have them in stock oh, they sell mobility kits online too, if you can't find it heres a link http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/...tkit/index.jsp Seriously, you have a chance to ditch RFT's, Do it!

get rid of the RFT. You live in damn Flordia how is this even an issue? Your 3 choices:
-Contisport contact (best OEM tires and there relativily cheap for high performance tires) -Pilot sports, sweet tires/tread -PS2s (if you have the money and want ultimate grip) /end thread |

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's Bridgestone Potenza RE050A NON Runflat either regular, Scuderia, or my fave Pole Position, Bridgestone make excellent tires and people are so quick to ditch the runflats they forget the same tire in non runflat "flavor" are great with plenty of grip,

My vote is on Nitto Invo, handling is just down right insane, and tires are non directional, so they can be swapped from side to side if you run a staggered setup like me.
Quit posting the same question over again, bite the bullet and get NON-RFT's. You'll never look back. Dunno how many times I've said this, but excessive wear down the middle of the tire indicates over inflation. Check your tire pressures. Wear on the inside indicates bad camber usually from excessive lowering of the car, wear on the outside can also be camber or bad alignment. Wear on the both outersides would be a result of under inflating the tires. Now seriously.. stop asking the same question over and over again. GO BUY NON RUN FLATS AND SUCK IT UP. YOU WON'T REGRET IT. In case you're still pissing over F1's cuz everyone says they're the best, almost any performance summer tire will outhandle an RFT. And I guarantee you any tire I list here is better than the F1. Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R Avon Tech M550 A/S Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Continental ContiSport Contact 3 Nitto Invo Toyo Proxes T1S Yokohama Advan S4 Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 And if you REALLY want the GoodYear Eagle F1's, make sure you get the Asymmetric and not the All Season. There IS a difference and the All Season tire sucks ballz. Now pick a bloody set already.

I just bought a slightly used set of RE-01R for cheap
otherwise I would have gone for the Dunlop Z1 (if it wasn't sold out) - very cheap (compared to some of the rest), but very good according to http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=100, http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=100 |
