First week with 1series... no bt stream????
So I've purchases a 2013 128i and had it for about a week or so.
The car overall has been pretty good, I really enjoy the handling and the smooth power of I6, unfortunately I do miss my manual (this car is step/t). But I don't want to sit here and tell you all the great stuff, you guys have/had one so you know all about it What I AM really disappointed in is the fact that (from what I've learned/experienced) is that a 2013 BMW 128I without IDRIVE, does not support Bluetooth Audio Steaming, even if it does have Bluetooth Phone support. I mean, this is something that I (wrongly) was expecting to be in place from a car company that I have admired for a while, and hence decided to make another purchase from. Having said that, I did not buy the car for luxury items, but in this day/age I view BT streaming as generic as A/C. At least I have a CD player Where is the logic, and if any of you guys have any suggestions how to get this operational that would be great... |

I usually use AUX or USB.
One thing that is interesting, is if you have an iPhone with bluetooth connected, when you talk to Siri it goes through the BT audio. So there may be a way.. |

Thanks, I have a droid, my wife has an Iphone.
I tested both: fail. I'm using aux cable for now, 3rd party bluetooth devices are of no intereset because I want to use the OEM bt phone feature. I just hate cables in a new car BMW should be able to retro iDrive, or better yet, fix the professional radio. |

I had the same issue with my car but then I bought a Kinivo BTC 450. It's a little bluetooth receiver that you plug into your aux plug. It works pretty good and the sound is great. Plus its pretty cheap..like $40. Can't go wrong.

ViseeO Tune2Air WMA3000B Bluetooth Adapter...
I think you will need one of these... as long as your car has the 6FL option(USB in the center armrest with AUX input).

You can buy a BT on aliexpress for a lot cheaper than what's posted above.

Thanks for the suggestions, I do have the USB/Aux under the armrest.
I'll do some research on all, I've had one of these in my 06 e90. But whatever I decide on, won't the 3rd party BT accessories render the OEM phone BT useless? I would hate to give that up, it works pretty well. |

Kind of shitty, right, especially when the capability already exists with your given hardware and software and they fuck you on it just to force an upgrade to idrive.

In a 2013 car I would have never thought iDrive would be for anything else but a cool looking toy with Nav. I guess not enough research on my part b4 purchase.
I fully expected BT audio streaming, never even given it a thought when looking at the car. Either way, it seems the BT on a phone will connect to two units (different protocols or whatchumaycallit): 1. OEM Phone BT 2. 3rd Party Audio BT (via aux/usb plugin) This would solve my nagging issue. |

I've seen quite a few posts about the product, even outside of these forums.
I was not clear about 2 BT interface working well, so once that was answered it was an easy decision. I work in Detroit and just shipped the item to work, so at least I don't have to deal with currenty exchange and duty, since they usually allow up to $100 / day. I will post some reviews about it's integration once I get it installed. I appreciate all the help on this forum, community is great. |

It really is the BT integration that should have come with the car without iDrive. Last edited by Orpo; 03-28-2016 at 01:29 PM.. |

Android Phone... on ViseeO Tune2Air WMA3000B Bluetooth Adapter
Ok, I got this unit and it works as described (for the most part). Here is the issue I'm experiencing. Summary: car audio switches to tuner automatically after a few minutes of Bluetooth streaming. In detail: 1. The car audio creates a new input selection called IPOD when this unit is plugged in. 2. Since I don't have an IPhone/IPod (i assume), there is no music info on the car stereo screen when streaming. (which is fine) 3. The audio does stream to my radio, and phone works though OEM phone bluetooth. (excellent) 4. Issue: After a few minutes of streaming, the audio source on the car switches to 'tuner', automatically. I'm guessing because the car assumes nothing is playing on that 'ipod' input. Any ideas or similar experiences I think I've read somewhere on the post where another person had the same experience. |

Just an update, I had to return the ViseeO Tune2Air WMA3000B Bluetooth Adapter as it would not work in my car as I expected it to. I did contact the manufaturer, no response. The unit went back.
I got the balckberry music gateway, with usb and aux ports. this will do the job, the audio is through aux, so not steering wheel controls or display, but it will have to do 4 now. at least i have bt audio and oem phone setup. |
