Question MotoMaster Eliminator Batteries

Hi All - does anyone have a MotoMaster battery in their 1? I have used them in the past for my other cars (like the MotoMaster Eliminator Ultra AGM) and they were very solid, especially in cold temps.

I checked the CT site and they do offer a good selection for the 1, but just wanted some feedback from others, especially those who maybe have coded / registered it via Carly

Thanks!

Good timing on this one bueller. I have been having issues with my battery for the last couple of weeks and will be picking up an Eliminator AGM on my way home from work tonight. I will be picking up this one.

http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/mo...l#.VpkVzZorJaQ

Happens to be on sale as of today for 20 bucks off.

It is a group 49 size and should fit perfectly. Based on my research this one is a re-badged Exide Edge AGM. Reviews on it look good.

I ordered a Carly on the 7th. Hoping it gets here soon so I can code the new battery to my car.

Thanks for the quick reply! I was looking at this one as well. How are you going to code / register it by chance?

I ordered a Carly but am still waiting for it. Didn't really see an option to by it locally so I just ordered it direct from the manufacturer in Germany. They shipped it on the 7th and the German tracking site seems to say it arrived in Canada on the 12th. I used Google translate to read the page so hoping that is accurate. Hope to see it soon.

Once I get it if you are local and want to use it to code yours as well it would be my pleasure.

Thanks GoodMoodley for the offer! I myself ordered my Carly adapter on the 13th so i'll give it another week or so to arrive.

My battery seems ok, but I received a yellow battery discharge indication last week and I was just looking at options for the future. I put the battery on a trickle charger and it charged back up to 100% just fine but want to be prepared as a precaution.

I was getting the battery discharge warning as well. I had an older intelligent charger but ended up picking up one of those NOCO genius chargers to try out. It showed 25% when I hooked it up and ended up getting to a full charge but the next day it sounded a little slow on start up so I hooked it up again and it showed down at 25% again.

Of note, my memory seats were not reacting to my two fobs, mine and the wives, and was not adjusting when either one was with us when we opened the car. Comfort Access. I read that if the keys were stored within the cars range this could affect whether it recognized one or the other and also would not allow the car to fully go to sleep when the keys were in range which would increase power use overnight. So I moved the keys to a different location in house and this morning my memory seat recognized my fob as I approached car and adjusted everything when I opened the car. I wonder if this may help reduce overnight battery discharge.

Did you also order the Carly from Germany?

Hmmm. I might have a similar issue in that my trickle charger is able to top up the battery to full charge fine but the battery dips below 75% charge once I unlock and lock the doors, and then further discharges.

I did order directly from Germany as well (via the Carly site).... Might need to get this battery asap, especially if the weather gets any colder...

Anybody know what the capacity (AH) of this battery is? I am in the same boat. Don't trust the 10 year old battery in the car. Just got my Carly adapter. Although, I have seen batteries at Walmart US listed for only $134 or so, although, with the way our dollar is dropping that could be $300 Cdn soon.

I am not sure. I checked online and there is no direct way to convert CCA to aH. I am curious to know if anyone can chime in who have coded in a new battery already. According to Carly "If the capacity of the built-in battery isn’t selectable, the following applies: Put in the next smaller capacity of the same battery type that was built in."

My stock 720 CCA non AGM battery is listed at 90aH. I think that's the highest rate the Carly app will let you set based on Youtube videos I have seen but correct me if I'm wrong. If this is the case then I will be using the 90aH setting once I do this.

Following the link above does not show it, but when I select a 1 series from the battery selector, then go down to that same 10-4920 battery, this is what it shows when you click on "Part information":

Part Number ELU49/L5/H8
20 amp hour rate 92
Battery Electrolyte Composition Glass Mat
Battery Purpose Starting Lighting Instrumentation
CA at 32 degrees F 975
CCA at 0 degrees F 850
DIN code H8/L5
Freight Class 65
Polarity Right Positive
Reserve Capacity 170

So, it has a rating of 92 AH, perfect, just select 90 AH AGM in Carly, the highest rating.

Hmm, wonder if this will fit my 06 330 as well?!?!? Anybody here know? Car calls for a group 48, while the 1er says it can use a group 48 OR 49.

Oh sweet. Didn't notice that link. So now we have the aH too. Seems to be a perfect replacement battery for our cars.

GoodMoodley - please keep us updated on how the registration goes once you get your Carly adapter. I will probably end up in the same boat within the next two weeks.

As a former employee of Cambodian Tire, and an Eliminator battery owner. I would stay clear from those batteries. They are nothing but junk !

They last for a max of 2 years.Come replacement time ,they are pro -rated.So are continually having to pay to replace the last one.
I have lost count of how many I've replaced at work for client's under the same experience as myself.
From personal experience, original BMW batteries tend to last up to 8 years before they need replacing due to a bad cell.
As for battery tenders/chargers I recommend CTEK .

This line of batteries come with a 5 year replacement warranty at full value. No pro rating.

Agreed about the regular batteries from CTC, but did you see this with the AGM as well?

Guess I am out of luck. E-mailed Carly and they said they continue to work on more battery registrations and should be activated in the next update. No date though.

I need to look for another option to get this new battery coded to car.

Hi GoodMoodley is battery registration extra in-app purchase? How much is it? Did you get a refund since it's currently not working?

Ronster, it is an extra in app purchase but the app will not even offer the purchase as an option if it does not sense that ability to work with your car. When I click on the option it just gives me the above message.
