Take Over My Order?

Last week I put a 10% non-refundable deposit down on a new F80 through the military auto sales program. Now my wife's making me feel guilty for spending all that money on myself, so at this point, I'd rather not deal with it. I really wanted an M5 anyway and thought I was compromising. It was almost $6k off sticker, no sales tax, and included free shipping back to the US. The order is completely changeable and I get my build week next week. Anyone interested in taking the order over? The car can be sent directly to the US, so nothing's different than a standard order. I've been overseas since 2012, so I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not. I have all the paperwork if anyone's seriously interested.

You've been overseas since 2012 and are finally rewarding yourself after all of your hard work. How do you not deserve this? In this case, I wouldn't listen to my wife whatsoever.

Does your wife work and contribute to the household income? Then partially understand your intention but if she is just a housewife who doesnt appereciate your hard work then you need to lose her and indulge urself for risking your life for the family and for us all americans

Brother, I've been in the same situation. Totally understand you.
Those saying to lose wife are either single or in their second, third marriage.

Who did you go through? Have you checked with them to see if that's a viable option? I know that there are requirements that must be met in order to place a military order. I'd assume that anyone "assuming" your order would have to meet the same criteria.

Whatever happens, I hope it works out for you. And don't let these single guys here get you in trouble!

Not sure how/why you ordered a car without talking to your wife first.

Either way, sucks.. so glad my wife had no problem with me spending almost $100k on an M4!

Did you sign paperwork that says it is non refundable? any time I did a military purchase nothing I signed said it was non refundable UNLESS the car went into production. Then BMW would fine you some amount. Also, I doubt that the military sales program is transferable.

Your logic doesn't make sense here, your wife is upset because she doesn't like the idea if you spending so much on a car (which I don't agree with) yet your rationalizing because you feel you were settling on an M3 when you really wanted an M5. How could you expect your wife to be ok with a car that's 20 grand more then the one she's giving you grief over now?

Being a military guy myself I know the crap and hard work you deal with in your job, so if there's something you can do in your personal life that brings you joy then you need to make that happen, and help your wife to understand that.

Hope it works out for ya

So for some clarification, we've been researching cars for the past year, test driving Porsche, Audi, Mercedes, and BMW. She's been involved every step of the way and has never shown any reluctance. When our local military dealer called and said they were ending their program later that day, I had to make a decision within about 4 hours. I called the wife and asked which car I should go with. She's a rather simple person and doesn't understand our passion. To her, it's just a car. She wouldn't help decide and only said get whatever you want. We'll, the bigger engine in the M5 was what I wanted, but there's a significant difference in price. Since I'm also in the process of getting my Private Pilot License and intend on getting a small single engine plane when I'm done, I decided on the cheaper M3 so I could apply some of the difference to the plane. Now, everything she says is negative and revolves around the car. I can't imagine what life would be like if I went for the M5, nor do I understand what the issue is since she never had a problem the entire last year. Am i supposed to keep my 2004 325 CI forever? We do use her salary to fund my flying though. I'll never understand women. Maybe she wants some jewelry or something, but of course hasn't communicated that. Does everyone else's spouses support their indulgence?

I don't know about everyone but my wife is the one that convinced me I should get an M3 and gave me the down payment for it.

Obviously your wife has to be ok with such a large purchase but is she just having some pre-purchase anxiety?

Put pilot license on hold and get the car of your dreams?
