ordering to getting the allocation- M3

I sold my m3, and am ready to re order another one. i have a local dealer that i like and have a great negotiated rate with them... no hassle and i like to deal with them.

the GM said I'm on the list, but they don't have an allocation.

in your experience, how long does it take to get the allocation, i mean come on the m3's can't possibly be THAT hard to get are they?

do you think there's a change i get the car in by March?

one dealer really pissed me off today- we verbally agreed on a price and would finalize the next day. then they basically changed their mind because they wanted to charge more - and tried charging me more!

The individual order allocations are pretty hard to come by. I was put on a list in October, and only last week did I get a allocation/production date (2/7/2016). Estimated Delivery based on Production is First week of June.

Try contacting YiwenT@IrvineBMW.com or PaulB@IrvineBMW.com.

I have a production number and I'm getting my car end of March. If your dealer doesn't have an allocation they probably won't get any until feb. so no chance in getting your car by March unfortunately. Maybe late April early May

Yes, M3 allocations have been in very short supply for a couple of months now. I am told Nov/Dec had 100 each. Sorry to say, but getting a car by March is going to be near impossible unless you find a dealer with an unsold allocation with a build week no later than week 8. Any later than that and you won't be able to have the car by March. I suggest you check some of the other threads regarding allocations to see what others have been able to secure in your area. I'm on the west coast and things are even worse over here. Best of luck!

To clarify, because custom could be misinterpreted. He means custom color choices/leather and other individual (like initials and etching)

allocation is a allocation. allocations are rumored to be amping up a little this first quarter however I have yet to see any sign of that fingers crossed that changes. There are dealers out there with allocations and also cars on the lot like listed above post, just have to call around. Also might be good to get on the wait list of a few dealers so you are first up when they get one. allocations and programing are released month to month. but like others have stated if you can find one on a lot that might be a better game plan if you have to get it by march instead of trying to find a allocation and ordering one. Remember once your car goes into production you are looking at 6-8 weeks on avg to get it so even if you got a build asap its going to be tight. Happy hunting

I have a week 5 build and it's going to be pushing it to get here on the West coast by the end of March. I know some guys have builds out to week 8 now. If you can snag a week 8 you should be able to get car in April. As said there are plenty on Cars.com if your in a rush.

You could, but your CA should be able to give that to you once you have one.

I have a Week 6 build from BMW of Greenwich. Car should be here first week of April. Seems there is no rhyme or reason to the allocation process. CA stated some months they may get 2 M3 allocations, then nothing for 3 to 4 months.

My CA is Joe Coniglio 203-413-1927 if your interested in inquiring on allocations. Thanks

Keep in mind that simple supply vs demand rules apply. You will find some on these forums that have negotiated what seem like impossible discounts only to be waiting for an allocation to be available. Others like me, settled for slightly less than favorable discount, but are getting are cars sooner and still happy with smaller discount. I need to have a car by March at the latest and wanted to have one in December to take advantage of Pull Ahead, but Feb is the best I could do (started my search in Oct). Fortunately, it appears that BMW Loyalty credit is being offered so that will help me a bit.

If you need to have a car in March, either find an open "existing" allocation you can negotiate and feel happy about or settle for a car on a lot. Besides autotrader, suggest you also look at cars(.)com.

i prefer the car in march because that's when the weather will be getting better in CT.... also, the residuals are supposed to spike up.

I got well below MSRP, not invoice pricing, but a pretty decent deal. I originally wanted to purchase from my local dealer in Watertown, but these smaller low volumes dealers are lucky to get 1 M3 allocation a year. Bridgeport wasn't budging from MSRP, nor did they have any allocations. If you want one soon I'd recommend a high volume dealer such as Greenwich, Darien or Ridgefield, maybe New Country in Hartford. Good luck

Exactly, getting anywhere near invoice only to wait 6 to 8 months for an allocation wasn't an option for me. From what I can see in CT during the past 3 months, invoice pricing on M3s is like a unicorn. It doesn't exist. Obviously other markets in the country being different.

I "ordered" an M3 in early Sept. Atlanta dealer said I was first in line but they did not get any allocations in Oct or Nov. Got 2 in December and mine is "expected" to be built in mid Feb. I don't believe the dealer was dishonest, rather that he didn't get any allocations and then got 2.
