MPBK brake pads choice

Hi guys .. I am so tired with the dust from my OEM brake pads... i have to wash my rims every other days to get rid of the brake dust ... i have been doing some research on the web.. i look into the carbotech 1521 brake pads, just wonder anyone having experience with it? Since I have been using Hawk Performance Brake pads.. but they don't have this applications. Also wanna confirm if these two part number is the right one for MPBK

Front CT1429
Rear CT919

Thanks guys

I'm running Akebono (rear) and Pagid / Porsche OEM (front) on my Audi. Very little dust, and solid performance.

Hay,

Yes, I have been using the carbotec low dust pads for 10 years. They are the best and 100% recommend them. I put them on all my BMW, from delivery. BMW pads are crap in terms of dust... get them you will never look back. Just go the street/every day performance ones. Problem is they are expensive with the Ausi dollar in the toilet.

I was told that the MPBK front calipers are the same as the E70 X5M's which should help you figure out what you need.

I am also fed up with the amount of dust I have on my wheels from the MPBK but I don't want to give up ANY brake feel if i go with a different pad. The initial bite these oem pads/MPBK has is simply remarkable.

I just spoke with Mike from Carbotec. The above numbers are correct for the MPBK.

Front - CT1429-1521
Rear - CT919-1521

I'll most likely be going this route on my MPBK.

Was there any loss in initial bite or pedal feel compared to the stock MPBK pads? I hated the amount of dust the MPBK pads had but the initial bite and pedal feel was simply awesome. I bleed the brakes before and after bedding in the pads and the pedal was rock solid which I prefer.

Akebono pads on all of my vehicles work better than any other that I have tried!

Yes.. you will loss a bit of the initial bite. But when you apply more pressure... the performance is for sure better than the OEM pads.. brake dust on new pads whole week equal to OEM pads for a day

Do you have any recommendations on where to get these from?

Just spoke with Mike @ Carbotec and ordered them up. They should be arriving around the same time as the MPBK w/ F85 front rotors. I was able to get my local dealer to give me a credit for the front rotors and F/R pads that I won't be using. Can't wait to drive with the new brakes!

Code the brakes and make sure you bed those suckers in good.

They should feel rock solid. If not the dealer didn't code them correctly.

Noted Alan, thanks bud. I'm doing the install myself, once complete I'll have the dealer code it accordingly.

I came across another post you were commenting in regarding the Carbotech pads and MPBK. I wasn't sure on the front pads that go with the MPBK Caliper and was searching the forum and came up on your post above.

Are the CT1429's the part # you went with?

Thanks,

Joe

You can send him a PM next time. And yes. He stated that he ordered them.

My '14 50i w/MPBK is due for pads and rotors. Are we still using the following for Carbontech pad park numbers?

Front - CT1429-1521
Rear - CT919-1521

Anyone have any recommendations for a good slotted/driller rotor for the front?

I put them on last fall and those are the same part's I purchased. I just looked on the Carbotech site and those are the part #'s coming up the 2013 X5M which the MPBK is based upon.

Don't be surprised if the pricing is off. It says $346 on their website for the fronts and other vendor sites. When I bought mine last fall, Carbotech told me they had their price sheets updated and the actual cost of the fronts were like $600ish. I found a retailer that offered me a discount off that price like around $500, but would not give it to me at $346.

Brake dust is less than OEM for sure, but still present. Experience squealing at low speed stops, but I had that a lot worse with my OEM pads. Bite overall is an upgrade from OEM.

Holy shut. $600 just for the front pads! Yikes. They better stop light years better than oem. For that price I would rather just ceramic coat the wheels and hose me off occasionally or get the power stop pads for less than $100.

I went with Z26 Extremes from Powerstop..the bite is very good. Aggressive, however, I've got less than 2K miles on them and just got a front warning that they need to be replaced. I'm hoping it's just a faulty brake sensor..that just can't be right

I cannot find that power stop has pads for the fronts for MPBK, rears only. In fact, I can only find oem or carbotech for the fronts. Anybody finding anything different? Thanks. D
