BMW Remote App - Aux Heating?

So I was under the impression the Remote App gave the ability to activate some type of cooling or heating. Reading through the manual under the Parked-car ventilation I see this is nothing more than circulating the air. I guess that could have some benefit in the summer but is there any benefit during the winter?

I also read on the Remote App site... In the "Climate" menu you can turn on the auxiliary heating* or auxiliary ventilation**.

* This requires the optional equipment item auxiliary heating.
** Depending on the series and model, some vehicles require additional optional equipment for automatic air conditioning in order to operate the “Climate-auxiliary ventilation” function.

Was "auxiliary heating" an option? I can't find it when building the X5.

The apps they have are a complete waste of time if you ask me. I have been very disappointed in the apps. Other makers are way ahead of BMW in this space. hell half the time your email and txt don't even pop in from an iPhone!

I know the Office features are frustrating if you don't have a Blackberry.

I was really hoping this was a viable feature replacement of a remote start which I have in my Jeep which I love because it automatically adjusts the cooling and heating according to the outside / inside temperature i.e. this morning I got into a warm car with the seats on high with the steering wheel toasty actually smoking hot. Don't get me wrong I love our X5 but you figure BMW would build these features into their cars. My Jeep Overland I think was about $20K less and it's got a lot of stuff in it.

Pin is something you need to create to enter the app.

This is an option at least in Sweden. Usually included in Cold Weather package. Otherwise around 1500usd here.
Works fine for me. I can activate it whenever I want through the app or set a fixed time for it. If the ambient temp is, I think, 15 celsius or more it ventilates the car and if it is below it heats the car.
On a sidenote, I had a stonechip on my windscreen and when I activated the aux heating this weekend in -7 celsius it cracked my windshield. Great.

I don't think we have Aux Heating as a F15 option here in Canada and something tells me neither does the US. So activating the ventilation in cold weather would be pointless I guess.

X54TH & stewy604 Auxiliary Heating is an option over here in UK and Europe. Its separate from the Ventilation/Heating option on the BMW Remote App which works on how hot/cold your interior is and heats or cools down the car for you.
The Aux Heating works via a separate 'key fob' where you can set two times to switch on during the day - handly in these cold winter months we have here
Its NOT related to the Winter Pack which is another separate option!

I can only speak for the Swedish market and I just checked and the auxiliary heating is included in the Winter pack here but not in the UK.
Winter pack in UK is £475 while here it costs £1450.
We already knew that packages are region specific though.
Besides, you don´t have to use the auxiliary remote fob but can use the app for the auxiliary heating as well.

Well, I tested it this morning and I can say without a doubt it is useless in the cold winter temperature. It did nothing but circulate the cold air. I can imagine the Summer is no different in pushing the air around. So I don't see the benefit and in fact why would you want to put the strain on your battery for nothing.

My wife is so upset that she went out and bought a Burberry Coat and matching Gloves. I'll show her and buy that MPPK.

Oh, for a lot of pea.... My wife does not need this kind of frustration to go out and buy designer's shoes, boots, then shoes, boots, gloves, scarves and more shoes and boots, all kinds of things))), she does it perfectly calmly)))) Oppositely she gets frustrated when for some reason she could not buy anything in like 5 min...
People be like "Ohhhh, you guys are so in love, you hold hands all the time"... Yeah, right, if i let her go she WILL buy shit!
