Heated steering wheel

I have cold weather package but don't know how to turn the heater steering wheel on. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

There is a button near where you adjust the steering column. It's located on the left side for reference so all you have to do is press it and a message on dash will show its been activated.

To all manual Nazi's. Ever thought that maybe they were at their desk and couldn't go get the manual, or the questions just popped into their head?? Or perhaps they can't read that small text in the manual.....

I thought that was why this forum existed was to help people. Telling someone to go read the f'ing manual is less than helpful....

It's actually very helpful. Many owners never crack it, but you'll find a ton of features you didn't know about in the manual, and better ways to use the features you DO know about. If people actually did it, it wouldn't be a saying.

It's actually a smart place to put it IMO, right next to the steering wheel adjustment. To me, the only other place that might make sense would be next to the driver's heated seat button.

On my E60 5 series the heated steering wheel button was at the same location as our F15... not very intuitive.. On the E70 X5 the button was on the steering wheel column next to where the +/- volume button is at. I'm surprised that BMW went back to the E60 style.

I also think its a horrible spot...all BMWs have this and it doesn't make sense.

Think about how often you adjust your steering column, which is why the put the adjustment buttons over there. But the heated steering wheel button gets used multiple times per day when it is cold out, since you have to push it every time you get into the car. My wife's Range Rover has it in the best spot I can think of, it couldn't be in a better place IMO.

How about leaving it at the same spot E53 had on the actual steering wheel (not sure if E70 also had it there) Now that was a genius idea back then! Instead they move it somewhere where people can't find it and come on the forum to ask lol

Yup, the E70 had it right. It was dumb to put it in front of the Steering wheel adjustment knob. Also, I wish the steering would get a "bit" warmer. Other than that I like everything else about the car and especially having "Sync" button for the temperature...that was new for us.
