BMS vs RaceChip
I know, it's probably been discussed before in various threads but I can't seem to get a clear clean cut explanation of the differences.
I've done a search and came up with the difference that the power is smoother on the race chip than the BMS.. Besides that, why would one pay double the cost for the RC than the BMS? I'm ready to order one for my 35i but i'm stumped on if the RC is really worth that extra cost. Thanks for everyone's input. -Frank

Take it from someone thats had several JB devices in the past. Once you look at both the JB and RC in person its very clear which one is better made. The JB looks like a $5 circuit board. Also the power delivery is smoother with the RC and that alone is worth the price difference.

I would tell you to jump on it, it is a good product and have 14 days satisfaction guarantee. I am tempted to get X5M next year once my lease is up if none of you X5M owners pulled the trigger yet.

How about leaving a trace into the car computer, warranty wise....I mean, there is a way the dealer can find your are using a chip?

The thing is unless your X5 is having engine issues or BMW has a reason to suspect your using an aftermarket tune, there is no reason for BMW techs to inspect or check. The likelihood of this would be very slim and especially on a X5? Tons of 1, 2 series, 335i and M3/M4 owners are using RC and I have yet to hear any problems from them with dealers finding traces of tunes being installed.

Well my problem is that I have some background history on my dealer with my first 2008 X630d chip.....had turbo issues and they blamed it to the chip, almost lost the warranty

I wonder how that could be with a piggyback (aka, removable) chip.
