How long do you go before changing oil?

Its been 10k since my last change and dont feel comfortable waiting for the car to tell me when. At this point.....the car would suggest i drive another 5k miles.

I am at 4700 miles and I just added a quart per my computer instructions. It is my understanding 10k oil change is not unusual for this vehicle. My Carrera 911 is similar.

Did my first change at 1254 miles, my next is planned for around 5000. The factory one will be at 10,000; then every 5000 after.

You car is telling you you're good for a total of 15k miles? That doesn't sound right at all. My car notified me at 6500 miles

$100 total out of pocket cost for better oil and without the hassle of my dropping my car at the dealership where i have to worry about scuffs and damages done to my car is a small price to pay for convenience.

$60 for Amsoil Oil
$15 for Oem Oil filter
$25 labor
30 mins of my time
Zero worries about my car

Money well spent imo.

I changed my oil at 5K miles. I bought oil and filter at the dealer and it took me less than 1/2 hour to do the change. The dealer changed it at 10K As this is a diesel, I like to change more frequently. I enjoy tinkering and working on cars - so to each their own preference

Interestingly, the dealer I had my MPPK installed at did my oil change at 4700 miles under the maintenance plan. I didn't refuse

The replaced it right away since it had been 10k. The computer wanted to wait another 3000 miles. To be fair....i did drive those 10k in a 3 months time.

I change at 1,200miles and every 5k after if I purchased the car or just factory intervals if I leased it.
1,200 because that is what BMW and Audi does on the M/RS models, they must do it for a reason...even though you'll find tons of posts that say otherwise. 5k because for some reason cabs and police cars run forever and they change oil frequently. It can't hurt!
