Scratch wasn't repaired at Vpc

I had gotten some curb rash on the front right bumper while in Germany. My car just went through Vpc and Bmw told me that they didn't repair the scratch. Has this been most people's experience? The lady told me that they have cracked down on this stuff.

Bmw recently changed their policy regarding wear and tear during ED..... That might be a reason why?

I had some scratches on the side skirt, driver's side (damn you, Italian roads!), that were not repaired at VPC.

Ive heard when you drop off your car after ED, do not tell them about the damages you are aware of, if they dont list it on the inspection sheet
They will probably think it happened during the transit and will more likely to fix it at VDC

Did you mark it on the vehicle condition report when you dropped of the car? If not you are suppose to.

I had a scratch on my side skirt and BMW fixed. But I had the person mark it on the vehicle condition report in Germany during vehicle drop off.

If they think it was during transit, it is fixed. If they think it was when it was with you, they will not.

Loginout checks the cars (more then they used to) to see if there is any damage. If there is any on checkin, the VPC doesn't touch it.

Used to be that they didn't really check them and went with the honor system. Now they check.

Can you share a pic to show the severity of the rash? I wonder if there is a threshold now before they will repair.

I'm interested to hear how this turns out. I dropped my car off at a similar time and mine also has a scratch that I hope they repair. My M3 is on the Ivory Arrow on its way to Brunswick now.

Here's a couple of pictures of the damage to mine. One shortly after it happened and another when it is wet from a car wash just before drop off.

For anyone skipping down to this picture, note that I am not the original poster.

I called the insurance company and submitted a claim as well as had it noted on the drop off location report. I'll update when I learn whether or not they perform the repair on mine.

My damage was kind of like the blue car above. They just emailed me back and said as an exception, they will repair the car. Looks like everyone needs to use insurance going forward to be safe though.

Mine was a minuscule curb rash on the wheel that wasn't fixed even though it was noted on the sheet at drop off. But to be fair I can't even call it a curb rash because it is so tiny that you can't even find it unless you run your finger along the entire circumference of the rim No complaints

Mine was marked on the condition report at drop off in Paris but was not repaired. I did not do anything else besides that, mainly because I was curious to see what would happen. I'm sure I could have filed some sort of claim, but I did not. I've subsequently had it repaired in the US.

Mine had a noticeable dent in the front bumper. It got marked on the drop off sheet, and not repaired at the VPC.

Upon redelivery I pointed it out to my CA, he made some calls and finally got BMW to fix it. I think if it hadn't been a lease, I may have tried to push the dent out from under the bumper, rather than go through the hassle...

Seems like more often than not they don't fix it anymore unless you use insurance :/

I'm trying to make sure I understand this and a few of the other posters. I can interpret the comments about using insurance one of two ways.
  1. Are you saying that you will have to use your own personal insurance once the car is back in the U.S.?
  2. Are you saying that you need to file an insurance claim while in Germany, prior to the drop off?

I can't imagine an insurance company in the U.S. approving a claim that happened while you were in Europe. They don't even insure the car until it is back here. If these statements just mean that you need to submit an insurance claim while in Germany, that is the expected process that they tell you when you pick up the car. I can't figure out from all of these comments where people say they did or did not repair damage are due to process issues for the claim in Germany, or BMW simply ignoring the claim and noted damage and not repairing the cars.

I'll find out soon if they intend to repair mine. I went through their full claim submission process quite a few days before dropping the car off where they also noted the damage.

I am referring to the insurance that Bmw gives you during European delivery. And yes using that Bmw insurance policy you need to file a claim prior to drop off.

I haven't taken redelivery of my car yet but I did have a noticeable curbed wheel + some small bumper damage. the damage was similar to the blue bumper picture posted here. my car was delayed at VPC and I know there was some "work" done to it. I asked BMW genius if they saw specifically what was being worked on and they couldn't tell me.

9/28 ED drop off. Picking up next week at PCD. I had a curbed wheel and small scratch on rear bumper. They told me VPC replaced the wheel, but no repair done on the bumper.
