Anyone working on Coilover option for F15?

Just picked up a F15 X5. Looking to lower the car and improve the handling. Only option available are KWv3 which are pricey. I have them on my 4 sereis but that adjustment wont be necessary for an SUV. Does anyone know of other companies working on a coilover option for this chassis??

Nope. I talked to CKS and they are not interested to make one.

Ben,

Would the KWs for the old X5M work on the F15?

Nope on the front, the rear will fit, but not sure about the valving.
KW doesn't want to share the specs. Asked already.

Custom coils from BC may be an option but my past set for an M3 didn't use quality parts. But that was 2008 so maybe the company has made some strides

I wouldn't consider coilovers unless its from KW or Blisteins or higher. I've had a few sets of coilovers in my past cars and all of them had some sort of issue over time. Rust, leaking seals, noise being the most common. I've had H&R, FKs, KW's etc... Even my KW's had alittle oil around the seals at under 1500 miles. Not sure if thats normal but not something I expected to see considering how many people rave about them.

Also just making a set that physically bolts up to a car isn't enough which is what i guess most smaller companies do. Cars needs to be tested to make sure the spring rates and shock valving is actually improving a cars handling.

Totally agree. Never wan't to cheap out on coilovers. I was just looking for an option like a KWv1 instead of the fully adjustable V3. I actually run their KWV3 on my 4 series and love them. But they are pricey and have more adjustments than I need for the X5. Thanks for your replies Alan! Always helpful in the community and all of your builds have been amazing

It seems both KW V3 options require rear air suspension.

I'm not an X5 expert, but is the base suspension a spring + strut setup? If so, it sounds like these KW V3 systems would not include rear springs.

Correct, no rear spring on the KW coilover.
I was about to pull the trigger but found out only for self-leveling suspension.

I agree with Alan I, I wouldn't consider coil overs. Aftermarket springs are almost always way too stiff. A better option would have been DHP when you bought/ordered your ride...then you wouldn't even be considering lowering the car.

Replacement cost of DHP is a factor. Static suspension is way easier for the typical DIY'er to diagnose.

Godspeed Monomax coilover

Anyone hear about the Godspeed coilover? On my M3 I can see the need for a KW V3 but on the X5, is a Godspeed sufficient for lowering and a semi sporty ride? Anyone with history of the product would be great.

I would say, especially on X5, you will need a good quality coilover.
The weight that the coilover have to deal with is way more than the M3.
You don't want that to break.

Besides, KW coilover is not a track coilover. It is a wrong coilover to go on the M3, IMHO.

Haha you mean when someone makes a new product for an out of date model. I'll be watching Ben!
