Unfortunately I would agree with you here. Saw a 2015 with black sensetec and it looked very cheap compared to even Dakota. Wife who isn't a car person said the same thing.

Or refuse delivery and order another one with leather. Worst case you would be out your deposit, hopefully not more than $1000.

Not a great decision. I saw it when ordering my X5 and was baffled that BMW would put this on a 50k+ SUV. If I were you I would call your dealer as soon as possible and change your build. If not possible I would be willing to lose my down-payment and just order another one.

I don't think he has it based on what he has written. He checked a car on the lot to re-confirm how the synthetic leather felt. OP, as others stated, refuse delivery tell them that you made a mistake and reorder a new one. I'm pretty sure the dealer can unload this X5 without any issues.

From what I understand dealers can't force you to take delivery or even take your deposit unless you signed something saying that you will.
Even if I had to lose a 1K deposit I would do it instead of spending 50k+ on a BMW with a interior that looks and feels cheaper than a 30k Toyota . Alan |

Saw the sensatec before and it looked terrible. It looked like a someone put a fake leather cover over the seats. It looked very loose and no corners were fitted and even stitching was wobbly. Such a terrible material and finish. You will regret EVERY TIME getting into the car and all passengers would think that the car is a knocked off version from China.
No kidding. |

Since you work at the dealer couldn't you work something out with the sales guy to try to sell it to someone else?

Look on the bright side, you never have to worry about using leather conditioner, having to worry when people spill crap on your seats, cracking leather in the heat, etc.
And let's be honest with ourselves... people don't usually look at the material of the seats. None of my friends care if I have Sensatec, Dakota, or Napa seats. They don't care if my dashboard is leather or vinyl. They see that BMW roundel, they know it's a good car. |
