Individual Ordering Help
Hey guys, its been a while, but I bought a new E63 AMG S model in 2014 so I havent been lurking the M boards.
I think I am going back to an M3 aka now as the M4 coupe. I however want a Frozen Black car, from what I understand would need to be ordered as an individual car, which is fine. However I have contacted 2 dealers in FL, and both said to just "go on the website and build it" unfortunately I only see a few paint colors under "individual" and none of which are Frozen Black. Am I missing something? Also how about pricing, are you able to get a discount or do you pay MSRP? Lastly, how long does it take? I am in the early stages, I have about 6 months but my E63 took 5 months to build so I am thinking i may need to do something relatively soon. I read the thread about Individuals but it doesnt answer any of my questions. Any help is appreciated. Joey

Frozen colors will, indeed, have to be ordered via true BMW individual program: http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...BMWIndividual/ Quote:
Your ability to extract favorable pricing is up to you. Figure additional 2-4 to get individual color order accepted and approved. Add another 2-4 weeks to build time to queue up your individual build into assembly line flow. More individual order stories here: http://www.bimmerpost.com/bmwindividual/ a

Picking up my Frozen Black M4 12/4
You can't build it on the website, request the color from your CA paint costs 5K, they will send it to BMW NA for approval mine took 5 days to get approved but it can take a couple weeks, it is a longer process so give your self a bigger window |

awesome thank you guys! As I expected, missing a competent sales rep, like almost every other time I have ever ordered a car.

One more question - I have seen "Performance Exhaust" and upgraded tips on some build sheets when searching the forum, is this no longer available or is this also on the Individual paperwork as well, and not on the bmwusa website?

Individual orders are processed and submitted by the sales rep. It does take a little extra effort on the rep but nothing that is going to take up the whole day.
The process is as follows: 1. buyer picks a color they want 2. the buyers lets the Rep know the color they would like 3. Rep submits the request to BMW indiv 4. Bmw indiv accepts or declines color 5. if the color is accepted BMW indiv will list the price 6. The rep goes over the price and build with buyer 7. Buyer agrees to deal, car is ordered. Colors and request are a case by case process based on various things. a color can be denied one day and accepted the next. The average cost of indiv paint is 5k. If the color has never been done before then your looking at 6-10k based off R&D. Hope that helps

As mentioned above the order is dependent on bmw . It took me 3 months to go from order to collecting my frozen black m3 and I'm based in the UK. Was told that frozen black was limited to 480 units but I'm not sure how true that is. The actual cost of the paint was around £2000 so that's about $3000 .
