TIRE Valve leak /Help
Hi Guys,
Long story short as some of you guys know from my previous posts I replaced the crappy Dunlop run flats with Conti. DWS 06 last week or so. Tires are awesome...BUT HAd Major issue's ..First a week after install passenger side front started losing psi..I brought it back to the tire shop and guy said must have messed up valve / gasket..and said he replaced it. all was fine A week after that now the driver side front started leafing same scenario..I brought it back this morning and he replaced .."Gasket"? WTF is going on? I have no knowledge of tire components and such...Am I being taken for an idiot? could the whole valve be messed up or did they just damage the seals / gasket on the tire installs? Rears are fine..so far. Anyone with any knowledge I would really appreciate some insight. |

I ran into this type of situation last year when I had my wheels powder coated. The guy didn't tighten the valve stem enough so air was able to leak out slowly.
Are you being charged for the replacements? |

TPMS gaskets can indeed fail/be improperly torqued down. Sounds like your man was in a hurry to get you out the door last week.
No big issue to worry about. Just the time cost of money for your repeated trips back to the shop...

Probably wasn't torqued down enough would be my guess. I put the tpms on myself, and was surprised to see it wasn't even close to being torqued properly. I used Galaxy tire shop on Coney Isl Ave & Ave V...Eddie the worker is a great guy,the owner however was a real DB lol. Eddie charged me 100 for mounting, roadforce balance, install and torqued to 101/ft lbs and I don't think the boss was too happy.
Went to him a week later and only charged me $20 to throw on my spacers. Saved me the hassle of pulling out my floor jack to do it. Just figured I share. |
