Just Curious.... First BMW
So I've never owned a BMW, but was told by friends who have owned several to expect a few gremlins. I've got a 2015 X5 35d that I picked up in July and have 7100 miles. I get amazing MPG and love driving it. I've not had anything major, but I've had a few odd issues such as the rear air cycling on and off on it's own which resolves by shutting the car off and restarting. Today I had a brake system error with a message on iDrive stating to drive moderately and take to the dealer. Again, reset by turning off the car and restarting.
Is this what's expected from the typical BMW? Just wondering if I should make a fuss when I bring the car into the dealer for the 10k service. I've got the full 100k warranty, so I'm not concerned, but wondering if this is par for the course in BMW ownership.... |

My car tends to tell my that I have 4 Flat Tires every now and then, it usually gets resolved when I perform a Tire Pressure Reset..

I'd be surprised if most new cars have less than 50 sensors, and these BMWs less than 100. I expect much of the future of repairs will be sensor replacement, not changing radiators and water pumps. The sensor is either faulty or detecting an issue that needs resolution. I would take pictures of the error in iDrive and share with your dealer at the time of next service visit, if not sooner.

Make sure all of your warranty and bwm assist is transferred over and just bring it in. I bought my 35d from a friend with 9600 on it and just transferred everything over. Brought it in for the 10k maintenance and they did a whole bunch of things to it and I mentioned a few of the "gremlins" you are describing. So far after that everything is good aside from an alignment issue I am working out.

To the OP, I'd document issues and raise to the service advisor. These are not normal in my experience. |

I had the rear air issue just last week, at 3500 miles. Turned off engine and restarted and all is well. If it recurs I will have the dealer check it out.
