(Is there a better forum for this post?)

I have a new X5 and would like to get a recommendation on a place for front door window tint and possibly clear bra. I live in Gaithersburg. I'm hoping the folks here are picky like me.

tia,
Evan

Hi
Congrats on the new ride. While quite a distance from you, I would recommend S&J window Tinting in Cherry Hill, NJ. They did Suntek cxp, computer cut, on my fronts for $99 and offered me $800 to do Suntek ppf clear bra, which included 30" hood, full front bumper, lights, mirrors, door cups, 1/4 fender. He said because the paint was not requiring much prep cause car was brand new, he could do that price. Might be worth the drive.

I got my front windows done at aptinting.com. They are located in Sykesville and are one of a few that can install formula 1 pinnacle tint. They also do clear bra's, wraps, etc.

They tinted my Mustang GT to perfection. Also did what was called "stone ground" edge on door glass. Instead of cutting off a little tint and leaving right below window edge, he ground it right to edge. You can't even see the tint on the window, it simply looks like the glass came tinted.

All American Paint Protection, Xpel

For clear bra, I'd recommend All American Paint Protection in Rockville, MD. Authorized jnstaller of Xpel Ultimate, I spoke with Brett who priced a package $1995 for full hood, front bumper, fenders, free headlight wraps, door cups too.

My X5 is at Absolute Perfection Window Tinting today getting the front doors tinted (pinnacle, because it's non-metal), and front wrap package.

I found them to be very professional and responsive to my emails. To top it all off when I was there they were working on a full body wrap for a McLaren, which I thought was very cool and it was looking phenomenal.

Apparently they also have experience with commercial and residential window tinting to reduce energy costs, for example.

I'll post again after I get it back later this evening.

Nice when did you get yours done? I had Randy at Detail Authority install Xpel full front on my X5. Then I had Opti-coat Pro+ applied to the whole vehicle a couple weeks later.

Randy did our work at the end of July. He did the bikini cut on the hood, full front bumper, headlights and mirrors, the rocker panel kit, door cups, and a custom cut on the rear bumper behind the rear wheels. We had an issue in one spot where he wrapped the hood and it started come un-glued. He made a trip out to our house to cut off excess film and fix it. Really good guy and great work.

Where did you have the Opti Coat+ applied? I'm planning on getting Xpel at Detail Authority followed by Opti Coat or Ceramic Pro.

Thx!

Yes they are very professional. I hope you had a great experience with them. I will probably be going back next year to get the rears and possibly the sunroof tinted to try and keep the heat out as much as I can.

AP Tinting did an excellent job I think. The front windows look great, 15% opacity matched back windows very nicely.

Unless I showed you where a couple of film edges are on the side you'd never know. I had the full hood and bumper covered. I'll post a couple pictures when I'm home and have my Nikon.

Thanks for the referral.

AQS in Ashburn applied the opti-coat pro, trim, pro+ package for me. http://www.automotivequalitysolutions.com. They have a special sealed vehicle room that bakes the opticoat to cure faster at 150'
