At last 50i ordered-Vehicle Inquiry Report

Thanks to the good input from many of you on this forum, I finally ordered my 50i yesterday with what I think are a good mix of options. Very excited and can't wait until it arrives. For any of you who are interested, I thought I would share with you my build. It was easier to attach pictures of the two pages of the vehicle inquiry report than to type it out. Sorry if they are too large. Not quite sure how to reduce the size.

Looks like an excellent build to me! Just so you know it looks like the roof rails are satin aluminum color instead of gloss black. Not sure if this was done on purpose or not.

Congrats on your purchase and we look forward to your pictures!

Kzang is right, the black high gloss roof rails are standard. However, I prefer the satin aluminum. I told my dealer to be sure to change to satin aluminum but he forgot. I had to get him to go in and change it and the vehicle inquiry report I posted was the revised version with the satin aluminum. Thanks everyone for the warm words on my build. Can't wait.

Not that I am anxious or anything, but I just called BMW and they say my X5 is scheduled to begin production on November 8, 2015, which is a Sunday. Does the factory in Spartanburg, S.C. operate on the weekends? In any event, this wait is just going to kill me...

At least you don't have to wait 3 or 4 months on a custom build car from Germany! I recall the wait on my two 5 series sucked

Wow that's a loaded 50i! You'll love it; it's one hell of a beastly car.

OMG! VIN already assigned...

This is crazy fast. As outlined in my opening post, I ordered my 2016 X5 50i on Saturday, October 31, 2015. I received a production order number that day. Now, four days later I find out my X5 went into production yesterday at 1:33 p.m. and it has already been assigned a VIN. The folks at BMW gave me the VIN today. I then went to www.bimmer.work and bingo, I received a report of all of the details of my X5, including all options and standard equipment. I just can't believe it. BMW says production will be complete on Thursday, November 12, 2015, but at this rate, I'll have this thing tomorrow! Oh, wait a minute, I think that was the delivery truck that just drove by. I'll post some pictures later of the report I received from bimmer.work.

wow...that is fast...
it depends on the allocation that each dealer receives...
if they've had an allocation that was not ordered within that timeframe, I suppose they can use it, change it to your config and boom.
I remember when I was contemplating beween 35i & 50i, the dealer says, we do not get as much allocations on 50i as we do on 35i, so if I was to go with a 50i, my order would have been delayed...so my guess is that your dealer had one allocation sitting there with no buyer which they immediately changed to your options.
So congrats!

You just ordered my car, except for the color. I plan to place my order in a month or so. Congrats and I am looking forward to photos, especially of the interior. I believe I will get the same color scheme. I do have a couple of questions. Under M Sport, the 3DZ, without lines designation outside, is that standard and what exactly is it? Also, 5AP, the decoding for no dazzle high beam assist, is that the elimination of that feature for US delivery? Thanks.

Well, there are others on this forum that can answer your questions with much better precision than me but this is my understanding. For whatever reason, BMW concluded that customers in the U.S. did not want their X5s adorned with many identifying tags (like "X5" and "M sport"). So, the tag for M sport, for example, is deleted on the U.S. models. You can see some pictures on this forum from others (recent posts from our friends in Australia and Mexico come to mind because you can clearly see the "M sport" tag on the front fenders of their X5s). I am really not sure why BMW does this. I kind of like the M sport tag on the front fender.

Now, with regard to the decoding for the no dazzle, there are a ton of posts on this forum regarding this feature in other countries (and there are some really cool videos on You Tube demonstrating this feature) but, for whatever reason, this feature is not available in the U.S. My guess is our U.S. government just can't handle change and improved technology. What is more, I think some of our fellow posters have tried to code for this feature with little success (I think I am right about that but someone please chime in if I am wrong).

Yes, Shaw, I think you are correct. I was in the right place at the right time and was able to take advantage of my dealer's existing allocation for a 50i.

OK, so for the update. The "production estimated completion date" is now today, November 9, 2015, which is three days ahead of the previous estimated completion date. Yesterday I passed a car hauler loaded with X5s and I was convinced the truck had just dropped off my X5 at the dealer. Alas, it was not there.

It is my understanding that the DOT requires a definite high beam and low beam, therefore prohibiting newer technology headlights like the BMWs and Audis. What a shame. I have to agree with the majority on the badge thingy. As they said in Blazing Saddles, I don't need no stinking badges. Looking forward to seeing photos of the new ride.

You can always add them back on like I did with mine.
