highest torque on sport display guage

I just had my MPPK installed this afternoon although I have not had a chance to play with it during my rush hour commute home. I know that the sport display gauges have been updated and now read 400.

With this mind, what is the highest torque value that you guys have observed after the MPPK install? I'm trying to determine if the gauge update is a gimmick or if we can actually get over 320 which is what the old limit was.

I've hit it in the 370s in WOT.. this includes my Racechip though.

Alan thanks for the information and that makes a lot of sense... But.. Wow 370ish torque with just MPPK? that is insane.. BMW only claims an additional 20 horsepower and 32 ft/lb... Can you confirm how high you have hit it on the sports gauge? I'm wondering if the gauge is accurate or not.

@Kzang , here look on my dyno sheet.

http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=967383

With JB4 Stage 2, my max torque was 362.
And max out to 391 with the catless downpipe.

For some reason i doubt the gauges are actually measuring power being put out by the engine. I would guess its just a pre programmed feature to show a specific number based on several factors like what gear you are in and throttle input.

Never really noticed my gauges since i rarely have it on that screen. I will try to test it out one day. The best way to test this is while merging on to the highway where you need to have the gas pedal pinned to the floor for a good amount of time.

I hit 300

i got up to 300 on my way to work this morning going up a hill.

Can someone explain to me (or point me to an explanation) why the MPPK supposedly takes time to kick in after it has been installed? I've read many posts that state that it will take a few miles before the full impact of the MPPK can be felt. What is the reasoning behind that? Unless the car buffers changes before it adapts to them I can't see any reason why the impact wouldn't be immediate.

Sounds about right. The Racechip wouldn't impact the gauges because the car essentially won't know its making even more power than stock or MPPK. All the race chip is doing is telling the ECU that its not making enough boost to hit is target to make 300hp (stock) all the time. So lets say given its current weather/altitude the turbo needs to generate 9psi to make 300hp. The turbo is making 9psi but the racechip is telling the ECU that its only making 6psi so what the ecu does is tell the turbo ok time to raise the boost so the car can make 300hp and to do that you need to generate another 3psi of boost. It was already making 9 but now its making another 3psi more so its at 12psi in reality but meanwhile the ecu is still thinking its only at 9psi.

This is why any aftermarket boost gauge that reads the boost from the OBDII port won't be accurate. You need to have the boost gauge read the signal from the manifold.

So in short the MPPK gauges will show more power compared to stock but adding any aftermarket piggyback won't.
So are you saying all the piggy back including Dinan are just tricking the ECS? I'm still comparing Dinan and race chip regardless of their price different and warranty.

Yes, that's what piggy back does.
Even a bench flash tune will not alter that number since those sport display is stock ECU gimmicks.

For me it was sort of gradual.. I want to say I felt the lower end torque immediately then after about 20 miles or so I could feel the car respond especially in sport an sport+.

That's odd. I knew the piggy backs tricked the ECU but I thought the gauges were accurate.

I consider these sport gauges as part of the entertainment package....
