Gearbox oil recommendation

Hi there,

I'm looking to reduce some notchiness in my gearbox and have heard really good things about Liqui Moly high performance gear oil GL3+ SAE 75W-80.... can anyone better this one? :-)

Royal Purple comes highly recommended by NA drivers who have run the oil in E46 as well as E92 /// cars. It's very expensive in Australia, hence my decision to go with LM GL3+ SAE 75W-80. I am happy to date ... the notchy feel is gone. Good luck!

I use Royal purple syncromax with no issue. Decrease in notchiness. I also track the car as well. No issues to report. I've ran for past 30k+ miles in the m3 and a ton more miles in previous 335i.

just make sure you change it at a regular interval.

I'm about to change out my fluid with Motul Gear 300. I'll let you know my impressions.

Thanks. Isn't the Motul 75w90 compared to the OEM/Redline/LM 75w80? If so, would that make it better for track applications rather than
daily driving?

I changed my MT Fluid the at around 60k miles with Motul Gear 300. Shifts seems tiny bit smoother and shifter provides a tiny bit of "bounciness" to every shift. Overall not a HUGE difference. Could probably be placebo as well xD

All i can say is it works and that there is nothing "wrong" with going with Motul Gear 300. (of course, some people might say that something "wrong" will only show up in time...) Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback. I assume you mean the non LSD version of Motul Gear 300?

I am sure is the Motul Gear 300 WITHOUT the LS. I bought it from ECSTuning (https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E90-M3...sion/ES261741/). Not the cheapest, but i ordered a bunch of stuff together + i had a e-coupon, so i saved on shipping and it costed ok. Cheers!
