Order placed but no production number yet?

I placed my order on Saturday and my SA said I should get my production number the next day when some other guy puts the order through. I have been checking with them everyday and its excuses after excuses. Today the new car manager told me that the order is through but they dont have a production number yet. I'm not 100% sure how this all works out but from my .2 cents does that mean they dont have allocation? To make matters worse the deal was drawn up on the promise that they would deliver the car in 2 weeks, nothing written but verbal only. Any help to educate me on this is appreciated before I talk to my SA tomorrow.

I was about to post here and ask if anyone else had heard the same. Although another forum member reported getting their production number yesterday. :

My SA told me the same thing...so that must be true then. I thought he was pulling a fast one on me. Im as confused as you are regarding others getting the prod # the same time they placed the order. In fact thats how it was when I ordered my 335 some time back. By the time I cam home my Owners circle showed my car!
This time around however my SA is clueless about this. He didnt even know that you could track your cars production! Talk about training

Tried to modify my build yesterday and CA said system was down. Didn't hear back today so I assume either still problems or he's down.

Yes, my SA told me the same thing - BMW internat issue this morning and when I pushed him to get my PR # as soon as quickly, he showed me their internal email described that online sales experiencing performance issues and may impact not limited to Sales Vehicle Inquiry, DAR Reports, Order Entry, Order and Vehicle Modifications, Vehicle Locators and Vehicle transfers.
it should be true however will still push him to get my PR# tomorrow.

guys, what can you find when having the PR #... is that the same as VIN #?

Just got my production number. Sounds like the issue with the BMW ordering system has been resolved so folks should start to see the numbers come through.

Production number lets you track the progress of your vehicle as it makes its way through the BMW production system. The VIN number is a separate number but I don't know at exactly which stage of production it's assigned.

Plug your production number in to you BMW.com website and you can relatively track the progess of your build



For more accurate timeline, you can call the 1-800-831-1117 number and provide your production or vin# for the status of your cars production.

I still does not get my PR# due to yesterday BMW ordering system issue. I will contact my SA to check the status again. I am guessing my BMW dealer does not has allocation at the moment. Yesterday, my SA said they have 8-9 orders need to submitted and may be my order was behind these ones or my dealer need to submitted into the high margin deals firstly???

Just got mine this morning and it is 7 digital number. Trying to add it in my BMWUSA.com webpage for tracking. but after my inputting PR# it bring me to this page. When I finished it and click "Continue...", there is no any responds....

not sure what's happening...

It's weird how they've set this up. If you look in the column on the left of the page, you should now see a new section labeled 'Track My BMW' and the new vehicle you just added should be listed under that. You can click that vehicle to get to the tracking page.

If you log out and log back in, you will see your build in the left column.

no success until I re-add my PR# just now, it really added-in. BMW website is really weird and need you logout and login then it appears on the left....

yes, on my tracking description, my M-sport Spay Grey just show as Alpine White without any line. hope to change to right one soon.

For reference, I had a production number the next day by my SA (10/12), everything correct online, but I did not get a production date until I called him this week, week 45, early November. I hope you guys do better.

Thanks have you see your exact production date with BMW online tracking?
does the production date controlled by BMW? or dealer can make it happened earlier? my SA told me to let me wait for production date to come out. do I need to push him for my exact production date? thanks.

I had to call him to ask for a production date and yes controlled by BMW, he was very surprised how long it's taking because in early October they had customer X5's in less than 2 weeks.
Placed order with dealer: 10/12 9am
Reviewed order with SA and had production number: 10/12 2pm
Called SA to ask what's up: 10/19, systems down, called 10/20 and told me week 45 production date
It's a 50

Got my completion date for week 45. We just completed week 42, so 3 more weeks to go.

Had issues myself with dealer speed. Had two modifications to the build and because the system was down I couldn't get them in before it slipped to 150 on Thursday morning. 2 weeks earlier than expected, and 2 weeks to the day after order entry. 40e.

800 line says scheduled for completion Nov2 - is that when it is scheduled to arrive at dealer? I assume it will not take 8 business days over two weekends to build, but maybe that's right.

Kanchis, how did you know the exact completed date? from 800 line or website? my car is in "Production Begins" status but no exact complete date seen from BMW website.
