Curbed my wheel while in Paris...

I recall reading that the wheel will get replaced/repaired before redelivery. Just want to make sure that this is true and the case with others who have had the same experience even though the paperwork says otherwise...

Ah, yes - the joy of city centers. I'm sorry to hear you suffered damage. I can't say for certain but I do know that wheel damage was the first thing they checked for when I dropped off my car. And considering that, I would definitely think that the damaged wheel would be repaired/replaced.

Mine was 1/4 inch scratch 30 mins before drop off on way way to the drop off location they noted it. Let's see if it gets fixed. After saving it for 2 whole weeks I let my guard drop. Zurich has these multiple road/tram crossings with very very low profile curbs. I was trying to find out where to turn and felt the rear of the car shift very slightly. It was a extremely small rash that is not easily visible unless you are looking for it and run your fingers over it. Let's see if they fix it.

This thread is from five years ago but it should still be relevant.

OP suffered wheel damage but it was not initially repaired however the damaged wheel was replaced in the end.

The paperwork says ED damages will be covered at $0 deductible.

Report all damage at turn in and all will be repaired/replaced at the VDC. In the case that you still find reported damage at dealer re-delivery then dealer will repair/replace it and send bill to BMWUSA.

Noticed how "report" is in bold? That is for you to report the damages and point them out at turn in. Do not assume that the person inspecting your car at turn in will completely do it for you. Then keep a copy of the damage report.

ED is to enjoy.

Thanks guys. I've had an interesting 7 days in Paris compared to my stress free 7 previous days in Germany/Austria/Italy. I just got another rash on the same wheel today from going thru a MickeyD's drive thru that was basically designed for a Fiat or SmartCar. Thank god for the protruding front lift block b/c its saved my rocker panel. Don't ask, long story lol.

I'll snap a pic of the wheel rash in the morning.

Just took redelivery after drop-off in Nice on July 17th. Curb rash to two wheels was noted. It was not repaired and I was told that wheel rash was now considered normal wear and not repaired under ED insurance. Cost me $288 to repair 2 black wheels. Not very happy.

Well that just blows! I can't believe they are not repairing the curb rash

I'm kind of surprised that they fixed curbed wheels in the past. That's not exactly a collision.

$150 for wheel repair out of pocket, could be worse. You saved more than that on the car and got an epic experience out of it. That's like the price of 1/4 of a night in Paris in a hotel, and/or less then the daily fluctuation in plane tickets from the US major airports to CDG Paris.

Not trying to be morbid, but you curbed your wheel and I don't think its that reasonable to expect BMW fixes it.

I was pressed for time this morning so no pics of the rash. Here's hoping they fix it b/c its a huge rash about 2/5ths of the wheel radius. Not your typical curb rash (low speed rub approx 15-20mphs)

Exactly but the fact is that until recently they did cover it so the first to experience the change in policy are nevertheless disappointed to find the damage hadn't been repaired as per usual. Of course I just paid the $280 and moved on. I had bigger issues after redelivery see my "drivetrain malfunction" thread ;-) all's good now...

A 25-30mph curb rash... Man, this almost happened to me so many times I lost count. One time I got squeezed between the curb and 4 crazy scooters, a Fiat, and a Smart Car and I'm honestly not sure how my wheels survived.

Don't let it bother you too much. A new wheel is easy to come by.

Hope they fix it for you! We are now waiting at the airport in keflavik Iceland for the flight home. Hopefully our cars end up on the same boat asap.

It would not be a collision claim, but it is something that should be covered under comprehensive part of the insurance policy.

IIRC, Alianz policy had $0 deductible on both collision and comprehensive policies.

Unless the policies changed post my Dec'14 ED pickup, it would have been my expectation that 100% of the damage (structural and cosmetic) would have been fixed prior to the state-side delivery.

I had curb rash on a wheel and dropped it off in Nice 9/14. Told them about the damage and got the car back with the wheel fully repaired.

This is good to hear! I had the same issue in Austria and filed a claim with Allianz the next day. On the phone they said there would be no issues with getting it repaired. My car should be here within a week or two, so we'll see how much of a fight this will be.

I debated on not saying anything and if it didn't get fixed say it happened during transport. I was honest up front and the lady checking in my car just made a small note about it.
I saw a guy curb his M3 hard in the tight parking lot at the Nice drop off and he wasn't worried.
When I got my car back the wheel had zero dust or wear (I drove 2000mi in Europe) so either they did a hell of job fixing the wheel or just replaced it.

Too bad. But if they fix it, wouldn't they fix your small ding as well? Could try it.

Where's your ED topic?

Hey man!!! I hope they fix my door ding and mirror trim too. I reported it when I dropped off and I assume that is filing the claim.

Good to see you on here and nice meeting you at the ring. I'll try to pull some pics together and a short writeup this afternoon.
